Im 21 and work for the civil service, should i move to the private sector?

i left civil service after 20 years and added 80% to my pay right away, tripled it in 10 years . The salary average pension in CS out to pension age is at risk to all pension access issues on state pension. If you do well in Private sector you can smash that 60K a year and right now there is no pension LTV to worry about If you are productive in Private Sector the risk of redundancy is low The Civil Service used to be an ethics based enterprise in the main and i loved it, but its productivity and decision making and stuff was allways so slow as to be non existent. The influx of consultancy and the gutting of all SMEs within it has ruined it. It really used to be able to do great stuff, now only limited parts do great stuff, and the rest buys in stuff hoping it got KPIS and contracts right, but often finding it gets it wrong. I joined the Civil service in 1994 at age 24. I would never join the Civil Service as a young person with ambition these days That said im so grateful for what i did learn there in my tiem and it has made me a better able to handle the Private sector ( after a little settling down time) you will never be happy or rich in Civil Service ! unless your fast tracked Etonian and make Senior CS early The myth of amazing pension and job security is not so real either for an ambitious person with talent, a mind, and a vocabulary and the courage to make things happen, My advice is find the right opportunity and move ! . see what training and qualifications you can milk from CS before you do make the jump Never sit in CS without a plan , you either climbing in there or training / gaining qualifications or planning the jump
