Honestly, that's what I'm currently doing at prime. 1 week of home time after 3 months on the road back at the start of February, and suddenly I was 4.5k in the hole. Then with diesel prices, I'm now 5k in the hole because I can't make 10k in one week as a solo driver to cover the negative balance, as well as my weekly operating costs. Haven't brought home a single dime since. Payroll department can't do anything to help me without the approval of my FM. My FM won't do approve anything until he deems me worthy of a paycheck. I won't be worthy of a paycheck until I deliver a load on time. Can only deliver a load on time if they actually send me a load I can actually do. They won't send me a load I can do until they like me again. They won't like me until I start delivering a load on time. Thanks Prime for screwing me over.
That's a very good question that I just can't answer. I'm still struggling to figure out if it would be better to stick it out until my 1 year mark in another 6 months, and not have to owe prime a bunch of money, or, if I should just leave and find a different company despite having to owe prime.
Oh, now I understand. I too had to do my time to pay back the company that educated me. The six months will fly by. Hang in there. I know working at prime is a tough gig. And they make it even harder with their crappy vehicles. But soon you will be free. We are with you.
Im going to assume its assumption based downvotes. What with racism towards non-white drivers having a tendency to break out in this sub from time to time, that may have garnered that reaction and not necessarily seen as a genuine mistake. Just a guess tho...
Not saying thats what he did but I'm also one of the many tired of it.
I just got done reading this article and came here to post it lol I knew Super Ego was bad but 15k violations and 500 accidents in 2 years? That's insane.
This was a segment about chameleon carries like Super Ego. The company was changing the rate cons on drivers, paying less than originally promised and pocketing the rest.
Yeah, he accepted the lower rate. If you are getting paid a % if the load, and the rate is shit, you refuse it. If its forced dispatch, than he is beyond dumb, he is brain dead for pulling charity runs. You should always know what you are getting paid before you put that truck into gear.
Yeah, true, except the report clearly mentions that the driver accepted at a certain rate, then changed the rate while the load was ALREADY IN TRANSIT, and then pocketed the difference.
It’s a crackdown on carries like Super Ego. It wasn’t simply a spending more than you make issue. Their rate cons were being switched so the company would take extra money out of their checks and pocket it.
No. They edited the rate con after it was already intact. The driver expected to receive X, but while the load was in transit they changed it to a lower amount, forcing the driver to receive less money than was originally agreed upon.
Honestly it’s like any other mass Criminal Organization… Somebody is paying Someone to turn blind eye. We go after immigrants all the time but it’s the corporations aswell. The minimum fine should be 2.5 million with 15-20years of prison time. Sounds extreme but how else can these people be held accountable for the amount of lives lost over the recent years to greed and selfishness. It’s almost as if nobody gets audited nowadays but the FMSCA “do their job so well”.
I’m surprised that national news actually covered this. Something drivers have been screaming about for many YEARS. I doubt anything will be done about it, but at least there is a bill addressing it called the SAFE act.

If I gotta pay to deliver the load I'm just gonna keep the load.

Why are you still working to pay somebody else?

What a total fucking scam. This industry is so cutthroat.
angrydeuce@reddit
Hell, Ill add a couple loads of my own at that point.
snarksneeze@reddit
Serbia based, as in the entire operation is ran from Serbia? Or that they outsourced management to Serbia?
I'm gonna have to watch 60 minutes for the first time in forever, I guess.
smellyjerk@reddit
Super Ego runs out of Chicago and Serbia.
Riyeko@reddit
I thought SuperEgos headquarters was located in Iraq or somewhere in the middle east
snarksneeze@reddit
Apparently it's a sin on Reddit to admit that you were mistaken about something

No I genuinely thought that SuperEgo was based somewhere in the middle east.
If they're in Serbia, they're in Serbia. I just didn't know.
As for the racism shit... Nah. Idgaf what color or religion you are. As long as you can listen to instructions and FOLLOW them... Idc lol

If you are dumb enough to accept a low paying load, fuel costs and deductions like tolls, insurance can give you a negative paycheck
Wizard_with_a_Pipe@reddit
If you run from Chicago to PA you can pay like $300 in tolls if you're not careful. A new driver might not realize that when they first start out.
Aimless_Nobody@reddit
$300 seems a little low.
Socketz11@reddit
I-76 (PA Tpk) is a about that much for a big truck
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
PA tpk $200 OH $50 IN $50 + fuel and you morons down voted him?

ArtisticAd9404@reddit
Don’t have time to watch the video, but plenty of time to talk about it on Reddit. Fascinating.
Cann1balHulk@reddit
Well yeah no shit. Doesn’t mean the company didn’t literally just steal money from you.
How exactly is that the driver’s fault again?
ArtisticAd9404@reddit
When you watch the report, I’ll be happy to revisit this discussion with you.

I am a truck driver, i dont have time to watch tv

Great job sixty minutes hopefully they go after all the shitty companies out of Chicago and any other city that has these ghost companies!

"Driver was self employed and had more expenses than gross income."
There, fixed the title.

So double brokering the load to themswlves so they keep a bigger %? Shady as fuck but technically legal.
IronSide_420@reddit
No. They edited the rate con after it was already intact. The driver expected to receive X, but while the load was in transit they changed it to a lower amount, forcing the driver to receive less money than was originally agreed upon.
