"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward."

More people should read the books.
Puppies_andKittens@reddit
Gulag Archipelago is fucking brutal, and should be required reading in High School.

Hack author and scammy website.
Get bent.
smokeyser@reddit
So how long has he been banging your wife?
TheBulletBuddy@reddit
You like pay walls on scam sites? And articles written with false information? Weird.
Strange how you took a comment at someone totally unrelated to you so personally. Take a breath and relax.
smokeyser@reddit
It isn't a scam site, and the article is about a real situation. You're completely bent out of shape about nothing, and telling me to take a breath and relax?

Not sure how true it is but if I heard correctly that 98% of Canadian gun owners have chosen to not comply with this massive gun grab, I've never been so proud of my neighbors to the north.
consultantdetective@reddit
Slowly. Wait til the owners get old & dead, promote a bunch of "guns bad & scary" bullshit in local media, push ads in the areas aimed at retirees saying "don't know what to do with your dearly departed's collection? Call this number today and get a ~~rude ass lowball offer~~ fair appraisal for government trade-in". Their govt knows it's performative bullshit, they're in no rush to get 100% compliance right away.
ghunter141@reddit
They've admitted they can't get them all.

As an American imperialist who has long coveted Canada's resources, I am deeply grateful for the Liberal Party's efforts to disarm Canadians. The only real obstacle to a US invasion was the prospect of armed popular resistance.
There's no way that happens now. Armed Canadians won't risk showing anyone their guns.
Thank you all so much, Liberal Party of Canada!
ghunter141@reddit
Lol, just remember, most of the Geneva Conventions exist because of things Canadians did. But we could take them for sure if we really wanted.

For someone not in the know, how does the government know where to find these guns, quantity and who owns them? Was there always a registry, or was this some type of program individuals signed up for?
touchgrassplz_69@reddit
They’ve also made it criminal to not declare affected firearms before the end of October. So even if you don’t participate in the buy back, they’re making it criminal to not declare exactly what you currently have with the government, so they can follow up and forcibly take it later. Either way the citizen gets railroaded.

I guess NYC authorities could petition for 4473 forms from all NYC gunstores and start from there. Grandfathered "Assault Weapons" are resgisted with local police and they do have a handgun registry.
So they have 90% of the information they need to go door-to-door if they really wanted to.

Wrong N-B were talking about the province in Canada.
DrBadGuy1073@reddit
Oops, no coffee yet
Dapper-Moose-6514@reddit
All AR were registered with the government roughly 160,000 in Canada they know where and who has them. Everything else's they decided to ban was classified as non-restricted and not track.

I love that the url picture showing is a guy with a 91/30
Like no adults anywhere can be trusted with 1880s developed technology, no no. The government is here to save you from that century and a half old stick, don’t you worry
