Does anyone remember Sputter Sound System?

This was a DOS program that could play and do other things with a rather large variety of types of sound files. IIRC it could do things like change the playback speed and alter the number of bits per sample so you could hear what an 8 bit file sounded like in 4 bit.
I don't recall what limitations the shareware version had, but it did come with quite a selection of short sound files in several formats. ISTR it had a wait time between playing files, and some features may have been disabled in the shareware version.
I don't know what sound cards it supported but I know it could play through the PC speaker, because that's all I had when I bought the 5.25" shareware disk off a rack. I'd expect that it could support a Covox Speech Thing and Disney Sound Source LPT DAC.
That disk is long gone and I've searched off and on for the software over the years but have never found anything about it online.

YES!
I am messing around with an old 386 laptop (as in, right now), and had been searching for a game to play on it, grabbed one that was labeled "Jill of the Jungle", popped it in the drive, and it was the Sputter Sound System software.
Loaded it up and with it was a horrific rendition of the ending of the Hamsterdance song (the software and the sound clip were all on a 720k floppy)
I used to have this running on a Tandy 1600HD laptop, and it would play the intro to Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" as soon as it loaded DOS.
It does work with the Disney Sound Source (tested) as well as the Speech Thing, Sound Blaster, and more.
Unfortunately it is the shareware version, but it's still fun to play with. The Text-to-speech feature is fairly decent, though the shareware version won't digitize text files.
I uploaded it to archive.org and threw a quick video up on YouTube.

With that information I've been able to find the shareware came on three disks, and I found a place to get them. https://dn710902.ca.archive.org/0/items/WILDCATGOLD/
sput115a b and c in the Sound directory of that cdr image. Now you can have fun with all the crappy sound clips that came with the Sputter Sound System shareware. ;)
