Oop is the type of guy that advocates for riding motorcycles without helmet
Ok-Willingness742@reddit
I’m with Anon on this one - if I have to hear this “fun fact” one more time
PUNCH_KNIGHT@reddit
Is oop just fucking mad at bill nye or something? Did he lose an argument on crumple zones?
Dear-Carrot-6369@reddit
ya what is ooop talkin about? Who tinks this way?
awesomea04@reddit
Anon would rather have him and his family die than have his car totaled.
Starfire123547@reddit
nonono he just fantasizes about wanting to drive his 1990s solid steel frame square body a truck as fast as it can go (70mph) into a small stopped prius, then after he kills them and drives his car away he can gloat how awesome his car is to other old people bc the prius is such a pussy and weak car.
Its the only way for him to feel like a man bc watching anime in your moms basement at 32yo isnt manly for him
CreepHost@reddit
I do like how the 90s cars look, tbh.
Sure, the modern ones are safer, but something about the boxy feel just makes it look cooler I guess.
Shame you can't apply modern build quality and safety standards into such an old design anymore.
yumstheman@reddit
We do make modern boxy cars with crumple zones. Just look at the Mercedes G Wagon. That’s as boxy as it gets and it applies modern safety standards for impact.
Aathos_YT@reddit
I mean Lada basically did that with the Lada Niva... They have been selling the same car visually for like 40 years
Starfire123547@reddit
im sure we can, but it likely wouldnt sell except to a few chosen nostalgic consumers.
but i see no reason why we cant put old truck molden pannels on a newer style body/frame.
Deadonstick@reddit
Not to mention that most people that want a classic look would probably also want it to feel like a classic car.
A lot of countries have mandatory ABS, TCS, lane assist, collision avoidance, mileage requirements, speed limit warnings, passenger seatbelt warnings, etc.
Somehow I think that Classic Car Consumer Carl would be glad to own a hybrid Chevy Impala that beeps at him when he goes 55 in a 50 zone.
CreepHost@reddit
Mainly, as you sarcastically pointed it out earlier, the square frames being as unsafe as they were.
Sure they're stable, but they're missing proper crumble zones as the new cars have.
Other than that, cars nowadays have a strict design, due to the core components design (wheel, engine transmission and all the other parts) being shared across many different car models.
Only difference between car models nowadays is, well, the shell.
Arthur_Burt_Morgan@reddit
My opel agile had a steel frame. Old rustbucket. I got read ended which totally wrecked the others guy car... but also my spine and neck... its been close to 6 years now and it still hurts
otokonokosan@reddit
Man who loved the pedal more than his life.
I can respect that.

Doesn’t this literally happen in an episode of IASIP?

I love it when a random anon is incredibly mad about something that's barely an afterthought for most people.

Only tisms would

Anon has a great future as a manager.
"Let's plan for this thing we don't want to happen."
"But we don't want it to happen, so we should just not let it happen instead."
Brilliant

I still can’t believe Bill Nye died in that hot air balloon accident.
do_meme_for_OP_tanks@reddit
At least he wasn't scared
Morphling69@reddit
don't worry, he'll break at the last second and only end up going like 65 into the brick wall.
