Sounds like the idea is to just hack their booking system shut them down, slash all the tires on the trucks and put gas in the diesel lines

I worked for Super Ego for two weeks. Knew it was a scam right away when they had me put a new logo and DOT number on the broken down truck they sent me to recover. I never made a dime in that two weeks.

Crap! I wanted to watch this on YouTube. Video not viewable in my country (Canada).

VPN time.

Simple answer to this, each new company has a $20k-$50k deposit.
They can't just keep on changing DOT numbers then, also OOs would get that back if they closed down due to hard times. However those in investigations would not.
JOliverScott@reddit
Just extend the federal freight broker bond requirement to carriers as well when they apply for a new DOT#.
Professional_Pie9049@reddit
Abolish brokers. Simple as. Why would a third party make money doing literally nothing?
possibly_lost45@reddit
Because major corporations don't wanna deal with the 10s of thousands of single truck operations.
Professional_Pie9049@reddit
The concept of a personal stock broker was effectively neutered with the advent of the Internet.
Brokers are leveraging privileged information for their own profit while providing no benefit to anyone in either the supply chain or the consumer. They add bloat.
You just have a single, solitary freight board. Any objection to this, I’m going to assume you’re a freight broker and you’re just going to argue in bad faith because you personally stand to lose something if brokers were abolished.
mindsc2@reddit
This comment is just as delusional as a broker going around saying that anybody with a pulse can be a driver. Don't get me wrong, the market would absolutely survive without brokers, but to say they don't add any value is just wrong.
The majority of freight spend is coming from companies who cannot afford a traffic department to manage thousands or more carrier relationships, with annual pricing events, or a team managing the spot market . They can't afford a dedicated logistics manager, much less the software and expertise required to minimize risk and maximize profits. Brokers take on a lot of those liability risks and overhead costs for shippers. I know it's frustrating for trucking companies who are then forced to negotiate with people who actually know how the market works.
Maybe if you got out of the office or the cab you would realize that shippers strongly disagree with your assessment and it's only people like you crying into the wind that think brokers offer no benefit.
And no, my opinion isn't influenced by personal gain because I'm not a freight broker. Though it must be convenient for you to live in a bubble where you have nothing to learn because everybody who disagrees with you is wrong.
possibly_lost45@reddit
Someone has to run the load board. Someone has to pay for it. I'm no broker you're just an idiot
JOliverScott@reddit
Agreed that that's not really the topic of discussion here - I was only making the comparison that brokers have to put up a bond so why wouldn't we also extend that requirement to carriers

This comment sponsored by Mega Carriers: keeping the little guy out of our pond since deregulation!
Honestly I find tone deaf comments like these the exact reason why the country is the way it is. You realize you’re effectively establishing a paywall that doesn’t solve the problem, just keeps potential o/o’s from establishing themselves in the industry. The parasitic companies like Super Ego in the 60 Minutes segment would still be able to get their deposit back, even if there was some kind of waiting period between the time you established it and dismantled it.
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
Owner operators are slaves in this industry anyways. If you can’t put a 20k deposit down, are you making enough money to even be doing it?
azziptac@reddit
Tell me you have never owned a business WITHOUT telling me. Holy jabroni.
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
Being an owner operator is barely owning a business. I would have bought a truck a long time ago if it was actually lucrative.
JOliverScott@reddit
Zero barrier of entry is exactly why every dumbass with a pickup truck thinks he can be a truck driver
azziptac@reddit
Holy idiot. You still have time to delete this. Imagine actually typing this out?

Thinking about leaving my Starbucks job and drive trucks

Prepare to have your working life monitored under a microscope 24/7.

Weird, that hasnt been my experience.
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
It already is. Look up flock(sp) cameras. I think they’ve been compiling data on these companies and drivers and are getting ready to clean house. All the traffic metering thru a funnel area w cameras setup to see who is driving(Atlanta) You really think they don’t know who is bypassing the scales illegally? Like your modem at home can tell how many people there are in your home and you don’t think they aren’t putting all of the this together?? License plate readers are at every scale, and before and after.
Christon_hagiaste@reddit
I had that transition myself with a few more steps.
Starbucks partner for 5+ years > retail management > trucking > transportation logistics management for a distribution center.
Just know that going full OTR can be tough.

With a name like that, I think you can do whatever you want the F you want

Super ego, they were another flyby night company prior. It was either Multi group logistics or AmeriFreight. Just can’t remember which one randomly shut down over night. Then a couple weeks later I saw all Ego instead.

It’s how Eastern European criminals launder their wealth. That explains why they got so big, so fast.

“We are revenue focused. We are gonna start this trucking company. We are going to run it into the ground. We are going to make as much money as we possibly can.”
Lmao, see any American corporate structure since Jack Welch. See any private equity firm running veterinarian clinics or healthcare networks into the ground. This is your late stage capitalist America. No one makes money by making a product or service anymore: everything is financialized, everything is just a grift
