Well, that's it. I'm old. Time to buy a coffin.

A lady and I were discussing taxes and she suggested I go to "The Senior Center" and get help next time. I just realized that I'm old enough to qualify for "Senior Center" things.

When my dads health was failing I asked him what he wanted to have for his burial and service to which he said, "I don't give a damn, I'll be dead...that's your problem to deal with.".
Substantial_Layer_79@reddit
One of my siblings muffed my dad's obituary so horribly that I've written my own obituary. It's at the local funeral home with instructions to include my cause of death.
driftless@reddit
That’s kind of what my dad said. He already bought the plot and paid for the services. All I have to do is “dump him in it” LOL.

My father had everything set except pallbearers. There were only four of us.

I’m glad my parents have been clear on it. I’m in charge of handling their post-death situation. The last thing I want to deal with while handling grieving their deaths is my or their siblings jumping in with their ideas of what my mom/dad would want for their funeral.

I was signing up a new member at the place where I volunteer, and her birthday was 1982. She said something like, "Yeah I know. I'm old."
I said, "You were born when I was in junior high! You are not old." 😛

I’m 56 and seem to qualify for things I don’t want but not yet qualify for things I do want. lol.

I'm less than two years away from qualifying for a National Parks lifetime pass. It's honestly the only thing I'm looking forward to.
automator3000@reddit
Sick. I’d be excited for that too
JJQuantum@reddit
My brother and SIL qualified and now they are visiting national parks like they are giving away free crack.

Last year around Valentine Day I got an ad on my email explaining that the best gift I could give my husband this year would be to preorder my own coffin. 🤷🏼♀️
FloppyFerrett1@reddit
Ugh, awful 😕
Cinisajoy2@reddit
Whataburger has free drinks for those 55 and older.
Princessferfs@reddit
How old do you have to be to qualify for the senior center?
elphaba00@reddit
I've often wondered that. I know the senior center in my town does meals, speakers, and games. My parents are in their 70s and feel like they're too "young" to go. "That's for the old people"
AdhesivenessEqual166@reddit
Where I live it's 55, but you have to be 60 to qualify for the subsidized lunch.
ONROSREPUS@reddit
Ours is 55. Its like waiting for the damn drinking age again.
SlowEmphasis3676@reddit
Coffin or Casket? That is the question. :)
therelybare5@reddit
Neither, I’m going to be burned to ashes!
No-Barracuda-3635@reddit
Floating funeral pyre is the only way
SlowEmphasis3676@reddit
Urn or cardboard?
ONROSREPUS@reddit
Plastic zip loc to where my ashes will be spread. Trying to do it as cheap as possible.
I asked about a Viking funeral. Not allowed in my state.
Outrageous-Aside1771@reddit
I only have 2 requests:
1) I just want my remains to be spread at Disney World.
2) I do not want to be cremated.
ONROSREPUS@reddit
That should be entertaning evening news.
therelybare5@reddit
Now that won’t be up to me, will it? I’ll have no say in the matter!
ONROSREPUS@reddit
You do have a say. Its called your final wishes, if you designate them in a will.
therelybare5@reddit
Honestly, I’d like to make it as easy as possible for my wife, if she doesn’t go first.

When I'm dead just throw me in the trash!

Nothing wrong with preparing for your passing either. You are not old just seasoned.

I decided I was old when a barber first asked if I wanted my eyebrows trimmed. I was 30!
I was reminded I was old at about 42yo when I was talking to a 3rd year uni student. She asked my age then said, "You're the same age as my dad!"
I was rereminded I was old last year when one of my knees gave out and put me on crutches for 2 months and just as that one was getting better, the other went out because I'd been relying on it too much. Now they're both better but both still bitching. Yes, have started Wegovy to try to shut them up.
When I die, use my body for science. Strapping me in a chair and testing a new grenade on me is fine.

One better... Talking with a guy (who seemed younger than me) at local museum today about the construction in the neighborhood and he said that they're digging up everything over where he lives which turns out to be a senior community. I jokingly said you live in there? That's for old people. He said it's for anyone 55 or older. 😬
Fair-Wishbone-1190@reddit
Same here! I started getting AARP magazines, and I also found out that I get senior discounts at certain places. I'm 53 and I was shocked that I'm now considered a senior citizen! I absolutely blows my mind and I can't handle it.
