Nobody cares. Yet another example of the billionaire class taking over everything. They own the car world now.
SecretPantyWorshiper@reddit
This is like complaining about Rolls Royce catering to the ultra rich lol
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
Aston always dipped their toes in “attainable if you’re a surgeon.” That’s no more.
CarsPlanesTrains@reddit
No? That's Porsche. The major complaint with the Vantage was always that it was way more expensive than a 911. Do you know anything about cars?
FarSolar@reddit
I think a surgeon can still afford one depending on the area. In nursing school I had an OB-GYN chatting with me about his while he was delivering a baby lol
SecretPantyWorshiper@reddit
Not really the hill to die on mate
seucebola@reddit
A 2006 Aston Martin Vantage was roughly 110k msrp, which goes for 180k adjusted for inflation. A 2026 Vantage sells for 190k msrp. Yeah, they got a little bit more expensive, but not in a way that they became unobtainable.
If you wanted them to do like a 100k msrp sportscar, that’s a whole different topic then. Nothing to do with billionaires and one off projects
reversehelmet@reddit
You cared enough to write your comment
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
I don’t care about the car. I care that the car world is so openly exclusive to billionaires now.
Privateer_Lev_Arris@reddit
This is why I stopped caring about cars. Every year this insane divide grows bigger.
mellofello808@reddit
There has never been a better time to be enthusiast of moderate means. If you are ok with buying used there are tons of used performance cars to be had in the 30-40k range that have more than enough speed to put a smile on your face, and pin you back in the seat.
mellofello808@reddit
I love stuff like this. Not like I can afford their super cars anyway, so I find it very cool that they make these money no object one off cars.
AltruisticMobile4606@reddit
Uhhh I care? This looks cool as fuck and its exactly what I’d do with my money if I was a billionaire. Seems like you’re just jelly
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
>if I was a billionaire.
What a useless sentiment.
AltruisticMobile4606@reddit
Spoken like someone with zero imagination or whimsy in life
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
Fantasizing about the impossible is “a vivid imagination”. It’s useless wish casting.
seucebola@reddit
You better read a bit about the Sultan of Brunei and you will know this isn’t anything new. Even if you search for the Italian Carrozerias, this has been happening on the auto industry since forever.
They basically fund the development and the brand could use some of the tech on their roadcars, there’s no point on being against it.
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
It’s never been exclusively catering to billionaires.
seucebola@reddit
Dude, Aston Martin has always been a highly expensive brand. If you want to purchase theirs 200k cars, you could just go to any dealership and get them. As every other brand has always done, they also develop exclusive models if you have the funds for it.
Every single sportscar brand has done that before.
I get the feeling of being against billionaires (not my take, but I respect it). But at least try to make a factual comparison, you are just trying to problematize something that has been done forever and that it won’t ever affect you because you we’re never the demographic for this type of car.
Bentley Buccaneer, Bentley Dominator, Ferrari F90, Ferrari FX, Aston Cygnet V8, Aston Victor, Lamborghini Veneno (3 units), Ferrari SP38. That’s just a few models for you to look up and see that this has been happening since forever and it ain’t a “billionaires are taking over the car industry” take
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
You are just talking past me. It’s never been this bad. This overtly aimed at only the people with 8 zeros in their bank account balance.
Suitedbadge401@reddit
Either you’re chronically online, plain ignorant, or both.
willpc14@reddit
52k comment karma in one year speaks for itself.

seucebola@reddit
Dude, google is your best friend. Try searching for a few one off models that they did through the 80s and 90s, this ain’t nothing new, it’s just that now we get to know about them more easily.
There’s a one off model that I really like, the Porsche 935 Straßenversion. It was a one off 1983 935 that Porsche converted to a street legal car, with a full interior and every bit of the road going cars. It was made exclusively for Mansour Ojjeh, the owner of TAG
TheDrunkenMatador@reddit
Aston Martin used to be affordable to millionaires or even hundred-thousandaires who’d saved wisely for a long time.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Still is, you just aren't going to buying vakyries, just like you weren't going to buying one-77s & dbr9s
seucebola@reddit
Everyone here actin like a Vantage costed 30k 20 years ago lol Those things were never cheap
seucebola@reddit
Do you need to be a billionaire to buy a 190k car? The Vantage starts at that price range.
HuntKey2603@reddit
how old are you? when have the ultra rich not owned the car world?
GoldenState15@reddit
Aston made a cool thing again? Better go complain on the Internet
e136@reddit
Doug Demuro cares. When he sees production numbers under 20 he instantly cums.
costafilh0@reddit
Unhappy child because can't have everything in the world.
Grow the fvck up!
UnnamedStaplesDrone@reddit
Smh what ever happened to the Aston Martin for the common man
ArthurFinchleyIII@reddit
How does it affect your life if a billionaire wants to buy one of these?
SirLoremIpsum@reddit
Cause we want billionaires to fund schools and hospitals not one off cars that will be driven 3 times.
We want affordable housing for the masses not 24 different vacation houses that sit empty.
This one example doesn't affect me personally, but we're allowed to have opinions about the world at large.
Poverty exists not because we cant feed the poor but because we cannot sate the rich. It's never enough
pridetwo@reddit
If you want billionaires to fund schools they need to either be taxed more or they gotta spend more money on stupid billionaire stuff so that those businesses and their employees' taxes fund schools. This aston does the latter.
I imagine you'd counter with the idea that billionaires could privately fund schools to which I say that having schools financially dependent on billionaires is a repugnant idea.
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
That this is the kind of thing the car industry focuses on. Whats left for us?
Puzzled_Ad_3072@reddit
Ah yes, Aston Martin, the famously accessable to the public brand...
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
It wasn’t a flat out impossibility in the past. It is today.
strongmanass@reddit
Series production Aston Martins aren't any more expensive in real terms now than at the start of the century.
PRSArchon@reddit
This guy is just a troll, he was just commenting somewhere alse about how EVs are unaffordable (60k) and now he is here complaining Aston Martins have gotten unaffordable.
Quitetheoddone@reddit
Living life this pessimistic and angry at the world has got to be exhausting, good luck bud
ArthurFinchleyIII@reddit
You’re right. Aston Martin probably cancelled their Miata competitor to work on this.
neueziel1@reddit
i got a chuckle out of this
Multifaceted-Simp@reddit
I mean they did spend their time making a Vulcan and Valkyrie instead of a signet
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
The v8 vantage is $250,000 now, and they haven’t made any meaningful updates in almost a decade. The $2,000,000 price range is where they all want their focus.
pz760@reddit
They recently released a new Vantage which is priced right around $200,000 and they launched a bloody stunning new DB12 which is also well-priced for what it is. And have you seen the new Vanquish? Gorgeous.
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
That’s a facelift. And it will cost you a quarter of a million dollars. The Db12 will be approaching half a million when it’s kitted out like the designers intended.
atomicskiracer@reddit
Incredibly dramatic take
duskie3@reddit
It’s vanity projects like this that keep boutique brands like Aston afloat. So you should be thankful, actually.
BigJellyfish1906@reddit
Maybe they could sell more cars if the cheapest weren’t a quarter of a million dollars with options.
strongmanass@reddit
Their objective is to make money. Selling (significantly) more cars is not the way to make more money in Aston Martin's part of the market. See Maserati for how that went.
bc10551@reddit
Why don't you try making something like what they make but for less money while not going bankrupt. I'm sure you'll figure it out. What are you expecting them to make that you can't get from another brand?
ahorrribledrummer@reddit
I mean fuck/tax the rich but this is just badass and awesome. It's an Aston Martin not a Chevy.
xkemex@reddit
Nah you can still buy your Miata they’re not interested in that
No-Pipe4332@reddit
Fuck billionaires, destroying the economy and planet just so they can say “I have more” is the biggest problem in this country. We need more Luigi’s to balance the scales again 🤣😂
Jim_skywalker@reddit
If that's anything like their F1 car that billionaire is gonna regret it.
When_hop@reddit
Garbage website.
pz760@reddit
Par for the course for Ken Griffin. He's had a bunch of insane track cars -- FXX-K Evo, multiple P1 GTRs and Senna GTRs, a Solus GT, etc.
He's been a big baller in the car world for more than a decade, and shockingly his ridiculous car purchases manage to largely stay out of the spotlight. He's got some of the most special examples of some of the most special cars ever made.
Yarrrrrrp@reddit
You mean Ken Griffin the financial terrorist?
4r4r4real@reddit
Ken Griffin, the worst person in Chicago?
TangerineBroad4604@reddit
He's in Miami now and there's some real tough competition for worst person there

You talkin bout Ken “Mayo Guzzler” Griffin?
BayLAGOON@reddit
If it was Gabe Newell, I would have kind of understood it because of his Heart of Racing connection. But this ding dong?
xlouiex@reddit
Come os ricos.!
Secksualinnuendo@reddit
Good that it is on a track. But who even has the skills to get everything out of this car outside of F1 drivers
PanadaTM@reddit
Lol why would you even assume it's gonna get driven? All this money and engineering time is just to park it in a garage for 20 years
Averageinternetdoge@reddit
They should deliver cars like this with already flat tires.
Buschfan08@reddit
I was gonna say it was fod Lawrence Stroll, but then i saw US billionaire.
turb0_encapsulator@reddit
meanwhile, China is putting their R&D money into affordable EVs with long range and fast charging for everyone.
Small_Ad_4808@reddit
This isn’t really anything new, it just feels more visible now. Ultra-wealthy buyers have been commissioning one-off or near one-off cars for decades. Think coachbuilt Ferraris, bespoke Rolls-Royces, or even the crazy collections owned by people like the Sultan of Brunei. The difference today is that manufacturers are openly embracing it instead of hiding it behind limited editions.
seucebola@reddit
If you look it up, you will see that the Sultan of Brunei is probably the number 1 reason why most of the Europeans car brands didn’t go bankrupt through the 80s and 90s. As much as I hate the fact that he doesn’t really enjoy almost anything and just let it all sit there, he probably has done more for the auto industry, financially, than anyone
Nyc81@reddit
Bentley/Rolls and Aston alone owe them at least a decade of staying afloat.
ASource3511@reddit
People crying that AM is unaffordable is hilarious
lat3ralus65@reddit
Taxes aren’t high enough
RepresentativeArtist@reddit
Fuck Ken Griffin
ImPrettyDoneBro@reddit
I don't know anything about Ken Griffin. But I do want to know why everyone hates him. So that I may also hate him.
andrewia@reddit
He's one of the biggest private equity CEOs. So he has encouraged the enshittification of so many products and services to squeeze more profit.
wii4ever@reddit
Are you sure you are talking about the right guy? Citadel is not a private equity firm.
andrewia@reddit
Oops you're right, he's into market speculation. I've edited my comment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citadel_LLC

Wow, Grokipedia sucks. It's confusing Citadel billionaire Ken Griffin with some 1930s Olympic gymnast "Kenny Griffin".
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
Another billionaire special. I just don't care anymore. Like, enjoy it, man. Whatever. I'm going to keep shoveling shit to pay my bills.
WIP1992@reddit
Yet another example of money can’t buy taste…disgusting
FatMonkeyMilk@reddit
Yeah because this car is clearly about style....
The point is for it to break lap records... It's styled by aero and dynamics you donkey

Must be nice to be rich…
Angry_beaver_1867@reddit
Amazing you’d commission them considering their on track results
RevvCats@reddit
The vantage is doing well in GTD this year the Valkyrie in GTP on the other hand… well it sounds good it’s got that going for it.
MagnetizedMetal@reddit
Oh ok kewl
PROfessorShred@reddit
Okay, but now do this and strip out enough of the tech to make it only cost $10k. I promise you will see these at track days everywhere.
bc10551@reddit
What are you planning to get for 10k? 4 tires and maybe 2 of the rims for said tires?
FatMonkeyMilk@reddit
To be fair, that's a cool idea, if you can make it out of fiberglass or something however their design will be worth millions and so I think there's no way
PROfessorShred@reddit
Oh for sure! Yeah, I didn't even really mean specifically the design more of a give people a cheap platform to race or build off of that doesn't need to meet any racing series or street legal regulations and I think you would see a lot of people buying them if the price was right. Like why would you buy a clapped out Miata to race in when you could buy something from Aston Martin new for $12k.
fatbongo@reddit
hey guys the new Batmobile just dropped
furrynoy96@reddit
Well that makes it less cool...it's still pretty cool though
B00marangTrotter@reddit
I hope they crash and burn.
unatleticodemadrid@reddit
Yep, Ken’s and this has been cooking for a while. Surprises it’s been publicised, he’s usually pretty private about his fleet. He’s amassed quite the collection… of various things.
