Still trying to figure out cdrom issue in win 95/msdos

Ok, so CDROM obviously works, and well the ide controller works. So how do you fix this mess lol. Cdrom works when i boot from windows 95 floppy. It was working after i did full install but now after i got the drivers all working for everything else the cdrom is a no go in win 95 or msdos. It also worked fine in msdos but now nothing. I booted from windows 95 floppy and put win 95 cdrom in and it is working fine. I don’t want to do s whole new install. What gives? Sorry i know i probably posted this problem before.i added some pictures. It is a 486/66 isa logic board

By default DOS allows drive letters A through E. Change drive letter in Autoexec.bat MSCDEX line ( like /l:D ) or use LASTDRIVE command in Config.sys. I usually use LASTDRIVE=Z which only uses 840 bytes of memory (40 bytes for each drive)
If CDROM does not show up in BIOS, which it looks like cause it is not on boot screen, there is a misconfiguration or hardware settings issue. IDE controller issue in Windows 95 seems to point to this also.

Yes, your correct. Nothing seems to be listed in bios, no cdrom, or ide controller. Dont remember if it did when things were actually working either. Will look into bios settings further

IDE controller wont show up specifically but the hard drive(s) and CDROM should.

Try googling for "what was needed to have cdrom in dos while in windows 95"
Had a cursory glance and the AI overview felt right from back then.

Sounds like a resource conflict.
When booting DOS the IDE controller probably works fine as the address range or IRQ is available. But when booting 95 proper some driver is probably starting up to support other hardware and stealing some part of the address range or IRQ needed by the IDE controller.
You should be abyto dig throthe device details in device manager to determine what the controller needs and what else is using it.

Did you get a Driver and add the lines to the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files?
imactheknife73@reddit (OP)
No, after the initial install everything worked. Then after getting everything else working the cdrom is no longer being seen in windows 95 or mddos. So i haven’t altered any lines at all
