Why are Americans so smart/efficient in conversations and work compared to Europeans?

So recently my company was bought out by an American tech giant (almost half a year now) and we got a lot of new employees from overseas. My new co-workers are TOTALLY different compared to the old ones! They communicate and do things very effectively, meanwhile my old co-workers talked bunch of nonsense and took forever to finish their tasks.
For example, they regularly chat in the break room up while sipping coffee up to an hour a day pretending to be at lunch (yes it's paid time) and it wasn't even about work, just their stupid problems and pets. After the acquisition bunch of them voluntarily quit and fired shortly after.
It's not just work but overall Americans tend to be very educative and detailed when talking to me, why?

Cause they will get fired and lose their healthcare and house if they don't play the game.
