Fullface helmet for ebike.

Hey everyone!
When I was a kid, I had a bike accident. Even though I was wearing a cycling helmet, I still scraped the skin on my face, and I still have a scar to this day. I’m thinking about buying an electric bike that I would ride at speeds up to around 20 mph on roads, and around 10–12 mph on bike paths. I would also occasionally ride on dirt tracks. I also plan to ride a lot after dark.
I don't want to buy 2 helmets, because I have a small flat and to little space to keep two helmets.
I’m a bit concerned it might look a bit over the top to other people to use a full-face motocross helmet (like the Scorpion VX-16 Evo Air). I’m really interested in it for safety reasons, especially given my past accident. I also like the idea of being able to mount an action camera on the helmet and record my rides, which seems harder with a regular cycling helmet.
I found a nice offer, Scorpions VX-16 with style that appeals to me on great price. I don't know do I want a MTB fullface helmet, because cheaper models looks weird to be, and models that look I like (like Fox Rampage) is really expensive. So I'm intrested in MX helmets, like this Scorpions, and my questions about how will it look on me refers to that one.
I should also mention that I understand it would be warmer and less ventilated, but at night or in winter that could actually be an advantage.
One more thing — if I added goggles with tinted lenses for daytime and clear ones for night riding, would that look even weirder, or not really?
Thanks in advance for your answers :)

No one cares. Be safe.

I wear a full face motocross helmet everyday on my commute. I don’t want my chin hitting the ground at 28 mph.
I promise you, not a single person will give a shit about what kind of helmet you are wearing while zooming past them, but many people will care if you have a disfigured face for the rest of your life.

I wear the full face helmet for DH riding when I am around town on my e-bike for this exact reason. Don’t care if anyone thinks I look stupid.

It’s your safety man. You do whatever you gotta do to be safe. May look over the too but who cares. The way I see it you’ll be safe and look cool doing it
Shadow-Legion-1203@reddit
I personally have tinted goggles and they work just fine at night but I do think having both options is the better way to go

Thanks a lot for your comment, it made me feel more comfortable about my choice :)

You were correct the first time. Wearing tinted eye protection in the day, & clear eye protection at night is the way.
Shades are not safe at night because that is when they reduce visual ability.
Dark + dark = darker.

Yeah, that's right ;)

If you got a $10 head buy a $10 helmet.
Seriously, helmets are the one thing I think its worth 'treating yourself' on especially if it motivates you to wear it.
Sufficient-Word6038@reddit (OP)
I think the same, so i want to ride in MX helmet on ebike, I made this post to see another ones opinions about it, because I don't know that this is normal, or I am hypersensitive ;) have a great day!
Own_Peace6291@reddit
I'm in the same position as you actually (shopping for full face) so I understand completely.
The only thing I think when I see someone going a little over the top for safety, is that there's a good reason for it, and they must have a life worth living. Cheers and stay safe :)
Sufficient-Word6038@reddit (OP)
You'd looking for MTB or motorcross helmet? Or maybe motorcycle? Stay safe too :)
Own_Peace6291@reddit
I'm still pretty unsure about that but I think I'm going for a Mid range MTB helmet like this one.
I'm replacing three helmets with this so it's a big decision, previously I chose between a cheap ATV half shell, my youth dirtbike helmet, and an even cheaper cycling half shell so I was always compromising somewhere.
I'll likely end up buying a motorcycle helmet down the line but I don't think I'd switch to it on my ebike unless necessary.

It depends on where you’re riding. I ride 100% on a designated bike path with a very low probability of an accident, so I have a Bell bicycle helmet from Walmart. I suppose if I rode often with traffic & longer distances, I’d consider a full-protection helmet.
Sufficient-Word6038@reddit (OP)
I would like to ride on bike paths and sometimes roads and dirt paths.

i use a spherical shaped helmet and the coverage is id say between that of a mtb helmet and a 3/4 moto helmet.

I have this one, the face part comes off, so there are options. Now that I looked it up, it's a lot cheaper than I paid a few years ago. I think I paid around $280.

Get the decathlon ski helmet with swing down visor. Amazing for me

Outdoor master mips helmet full face can remove the chin section, has 27 ventilation points and can be had for under $140

You do whatever you want to do. You do whatever you think is necessary to protect yourself and be safe out there.

Thanks, I think that more secure helmet will be better on ebike, won't be?
nivaOne@reddit
It definitely will. 👍

I wear a bell mx-9 on my ozark trail that I slapped a cyc x1 pro on. Do I look silly? Probably. I just try to remember that the multi-ton hunks of metal around me have some of the most incompetent piles of meat commanding them and if I get hit by one of them the helmet would be invaluable. I also hit dirt jumps and trails so I need the helmet for that too.

Troy Lee Designs Stage fill face mtb helmet is the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever had. It’s 1.5lbs. You can find it for about $259 on amazon.

Get the leatt full face where the chin guard is detachable. So you get 2 helmets in one. https://www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/594342/product?variation_id=594344&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=783556001&gclid=CjwKCAjwhe3OBhABEiwA6392zFFusoz81kuLZo_YTLDeYveoHdc5kYKPbkU1Hb_NwW-tOkFdqa-O2hoCWQIQAvD_BwE

Thanks for your advice, I will consider this option.
brocalmotion@reddit
No, it wouldn't look silly. Even if it did, safety is paramount. I've gone down on dirt bikes and my helmet has prevented concussion more than once.
Don't be a meat crayon, spend the extra money.
If you're riding at night, get one of those blinking tail lights, too.
Sufficient-Word6038@reddit (OP)
Money is one thing, it isn't that I wouldn't spend more money for my safety (because I would), but if i can buy Scorpion MX helmet, which style i like, weight and heat don't count much for me. And it will be better for winter and cold nights ;) Thanks very much for your comment and opinions, I appreciate this really much!

I have a Otocon POC. It's nice and light, but offers more protection than a standard helmet.

I bought an MS2 explorer for exactly this purpose. Works great.
I’m safer and my face is more comfortable in the cold, who cares about how it looks.
