Brand new to sailing and looking for the right community

Hi everyone — I’m looking for some advice and maybe community.
I work remotely, I’m currently in Kentucky and I’m starting to think seriously about relocating somewhere (in the US, for now) that would let me begin getting real sailing experience. I’m especially interested in coastal cruising and, eventually, offshore passages.
I should say up front: I’m completely new to this. I’ve never even been on a boat on the ocean before. But I’m very willing to learn, help, and work. I’d love to learn how to actually work the boat, not just ride along.
I’m happy to stand watch, cook, help with boat work, take video, clean, run errands, or do whatever else is useful. I’m crafty, smart, resourceful, and not afraid to pitch in. What I’m really looking for is a place and a community where a total beginner can start learning for real.
For those of you with experience: where would you recommend relocating if someone wanted the best chance of getting involved, finding beginner-friendly opportunities, and learning the ropes? I’m especially interested in places with an active sailing community and opportunities to crew, help out, and build experience over time.
Thanks — I’d really appreciate any advice.

If you live in Kentucky you might like Seabrook TX. If you don’t like living in Kentucky then San Diego 100%. It’s a beautiful place to live and has a thriving sailing scene and it’s really not that expensive if you look.

Annapolis, MD would be a great place top relocate.

I know about the boat show in Annapolis, what else should I know about it there?

Well, the reason the boat show is in Annapolis is because it has a thriving sailing community. There are a bunch of sailing schools, marinas, clubs, etc. You would have opportunities to either take classes, crew on a boat, learn to race and crew, etc. it is on the Chesapeake bay which is a famous sailing destination because it is large enough to be likecblue-water sailing but still protected form the most extreme weather.
it is also in MD close to DC, Baltimore and Philly (relatively) so a bit more cosmopolitan than some other places with plenty of places to eat, entertainment, etc.
