So apparently Amazon prime has got an all 80’s music video channel called Totally Awesome 80s. Welcome back to mtv!! The original! Now I need my Aqua net!

Most music videos are on YouTube as well.
What's missing is the quirky hosts and vjs that talked between the videos

Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with with this website or the guy who created it.
If you guys want a huge nostalgia boost of MTV check out MTV REWIND - I Want My MTV
The guy who built this website recreated the entire MTV using archived videos and even has all the VJs. Hey Mods, If this isn't allowed, just delete this post and... whatever

I can’t find it. Is it only on the desktop? Or, can I find it on my AppleTV?
kimdkus@reddit (OP)
I tried to find it on my phone and Amazon prime. But it didn’t come up. Do u have Roku device on your tv, or a smart tv?
1plus1equalsfun@reddit
Plex has an app for practically every device known to man. If you go the store on your phone and search for "plex" it should come up very quickly. Good luck! :)

I can confirm, am watching the Totally Awesome 80’s music channel under Live TV tab on AppleTV.
But I also see it from my web browser amazon.com.
Menu -> LiveTV -> Music xcite Totally Awesome 80’s
But there’s also the Vevo 80’s and Stingray Remember the 80’s channels.
Particular-Stick-395@reddit
Yes. AppleTV and a SmartTV. And a harem of women at my beck and call…
kimdkus@reddit (OP)
Someone above said try Plex? I’m not sure what it is?
Diela1968@reddit
Plex is a digital media organizer app that also offers content. I mostly use it to watch my ripped DVDs off my home media server
SirkutBored@reddit
Plex is a streamer, might have a phone app, might not.

I’m not sure to tell you the truth. I actually just was looking for something to watch and I saw this awesome 80s and I thought I wanna see what this is about like holy crap. It’s MTV!! I’m actually watching it on my TV through my Ruko.

I started using YouTube to make my own personal MTV a while back. I still only have a few hundred videos in that playlist so I still have a ways to go.
LindensBloodyJersey@reddit
I tried doing that a while ago and then some of the videos started to disappear off my list. I must not have been using the actual artists I guess.

Hulu has some decade genre music channels. May be the ones already mentioned. I’m too lazy to check
OldHead1776@reddit
Yeah, there are two. XCITE has some, and VIVO has other 80s channels. XCITE has more "deep cut" vidoes, like, videos I had no idea even existed from the era. I see new videos on there all the time, it's wild. VIVO has these long commercial breaks for their own channels that are all hiphop trash. Don't bother with the "metal" channels on there, as most of the bands they show are a joke.

The unsupported betrayal and disappointment of this actually not being on Amazon Prime Video is peak GenX. Thanks for the emotion call back.
jfdonohoe@reddit
for me under Live TV there is a Vevo 80s and XITE 80s flashback. (And Vevo is showing XITE 80s videos)
kimdkus@reddit (OP)
It’s under the live tv tab.
kellyjeanie@reddit
I see it and I'm watching it now! I didn't even know it had a Live TV tab. We do have Prime
AnnOnnamis@reddit
I can confirm, am watch Totally Awesome 80’s music channel under Live TV tab on AppleTV.

You’re not seeing it? Someone said it’s also on Pluto? I’m honestly not sure why it’s on my Amazon through ruko but not anywhere else. I just got the ruko device that you plug in your tv and it’s only like $15 I think.
kimdkus@reddit (OP)
Could one of you please shout at me like with all capitalized letters, turn down that music, you’re shaking the house! That would really set the tone for me!! Thanks!!

Holy shit, you’re right. I just put it on. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know there were channels on Prime lol. Browsing through it there’s a lot of old stations dedicated to old shows. Cool.
kellyjeanie@reddit
Same! I even found some localish stations. This is pretty nice.
kellyjeanie@reddit

To those who aren’t able to find it, I Googled it and found
Here are the most common reasons for this issue:1. It is a "Prime Video Channel" SubscriptionWhat it is: "Totally Awesome 80s" appears to be a specific content channel or themed collection often found within Prime Video, similar to Freevee or other niche additions. The Issue: Sometimes, content provided through Amazon Channels or third-party add-ons is licensed differently for TV-connected devices (like Roku) compared to mobile devices.Solution: Check if you are subscribed to a specific 80s-themed channel. Try searching for the content specifically on your phone's app rather than browsing the "Included with Prime" section.2. Profile or Account DiscrepancyThe Issue: Your Roku might be logged into a different Amazon account (or a different user profile on the same account) than your phone.Solution: Verify that both devices are using the exact same Amazon login credentials.3. Application Cache or Synchronization IssuesThe Issue: The Prime Video app on your phone might be showing outdated information (a "cached" version), or it has not updated to reflect the current catalog available on your Roku.Solution:Log out of the Prime Video app on your phone.Clear the app cache/data in your phone's settings.Log back in.Alternatively, try to uninstall and reinstall the Prime Video app on your phone.4. Regional or Device Licensing RestrictionThe Issue: Occasionally, content providers limit specific content to "large screen" devices (TVs/Roku) and do not license it for "small screen" mobile devices.Alternative: Since "Totally Awesome 80s" is often associated with free live-tv channels (like Vevo or third-party apps), it may be available through the standalone Roku Channel or apps like Pluto TV.Recommendation: Try searching for the channel or show by name on the phone app rather than browsing, and check the "Channels" section. If it still doesn't appear, the content may be locked to the TV platform.

As an alternative, you can download Pluto TV for free, there are some MTV channels playing reruns 24/7.

Plex has the same thing for free: XITE 80s Flashback.
