braininvasion138@reddit
No, but I always wanted one and wondered how it worked!
PuffDragon66@reddit
Yes and I want another one.
Camaschrist@reddit
My grandparents had a less plastic version of these. Theirs were pure blown glass. I just googled it and found nothing similar. Maybe I am combining memories.
long5shot@reddit
You are correct. My grandma had one and I was always fascinated by it. My brother got it when she passed, obviously just to spite me. Lol
FarCompote4@reddit
I remember a glass version too.
Camaschrist@reddit
Oh good because I can’t picture it clearly in my head.
Peaches4U2@reddit
My mom had one of those too! It sat perched on the side of a glass container and drank the water. And for some reason I want to say the liquid was red? I was like 6, so I don't remember much more about it other than it was in the half finished basement and I wasn't allowed to touch it.
Camaschrist@reddit
Yes clear glass I think with red liquid.
International_Lake28@reddit
It always reminds me of Darkman

I’m pretty sure they came in the mail when I was a kid in the 70s.
TOW2Bguy@reddit
I remember an older neighbor/distantly related cousin had this and a Crookes Radiometer that I was fascinated with at the ripe ol age of five.

My high school physics teacher had one. He had us guess at the beginning of the year how it worked. The answers were hilarious.
VastTravel@reddit

No. Homer Simpson did, and it almost caused the release of toxic gas at the power plant

Hehehe hes going back for more.....
Stunning-Title3909@reddit
The liquid in them was highly flammable; a friend in high school tore one apart, caused a spark and burned a chunk of his perm.
Threefrogtreefrog@reddit
Grandma had one, I was enthralled by it.
Upset_Peace_6739@reddit
I didn’t but when I get a new prescription for my glasses I do a good impression of one of these in figuring out where the progressive line is.
Skipperandscout@reddit
Yep.
AnnOnnamis@reddit
I still have one at home. Was on my office shelf for YEARS back when I still had a private office.
F*ck the RTO open seating space concept.
FlashyProject1318@reddit
These always remind me of Darkman
ObligationMurky8716@reddit
Because they're everywhere but nowhere?
FlashyProject1318@reddit
No. Because it's used to trigger the explosion that makes Darkman Darkman.

I had one! And I bought one for my husband as a stocking stuffer a few years ago.
ChrisJBeaty@reddit
Neither myself nor my family had one; however, one of their friend's friends had one who introduced it to me when I was a young child. It was mesmerizing to watch.
