Last month I lost half of my primary trigger finger in a stupid accident. This was my first return to the range.

I tried relearning how to shoot using right and left hand. The most consistent was the last test.
It just proves that some machines work better with some people than others.

Still shooting better than most looks like

It truly takes practice, but there’s something else there.
In this experiment, I suggest the possibility that a person needs to test the machine they want to use.
This is why ranges who offer a variety of weapons to test out are a good thing.
I had been rejecting indoor ranges, but maybe I was too harsh on them

We wanna see the finger.

We want to get… wait never mind

So what happened to your finger? Good on you, man. This is good for your return to the range, man!!

With practice comes confidence and improved skills.

Not bad. I use my right middle finger for the same reason.

Well looks like if the other post had a picture of your finger post incident it’s gone now. I was going to say if you had any of your middle phalange I would look into getting a short flat trigger for the 1911. They usually need minimal fitting if any. But of course whatever you’re doing is seeming to work out fine.

I was like "hmm, in a stupid accident eh? ...lathe, table saw, band saw, angle grinder, or bike chain though?"
Surprising to see it was the bike chain. Cleaning your chain with the bike running on a stand and your hand got pulled into the sprocket?
Anyway, glad you're healing well and getting back at it man. That last grouping is super solid, especially for your first time back!

Nice one mate. Fun fact: in Belgium its illegal to shoot at human silhouettes
non-number-name@reddit (OP)
It seems well-intentioned, but meaningless and potentially hypocritical.
What do your military and police train on?
grizzly8511@reddit
It might be a EU thing as it’s the same in Sweden. The targets are mostly the same as in the US only the head is replaced by a triangle shape. It’s not like you need a lot of imagination to see the “person”.
Tacticalmeat@reddit
You don't understand: these laws only apply to the peasants
PuzzleheadedRegion87@reddit
As all laws do…
Neon_Yellow_Bro@reddit
Fun fact: In America we don’t have to follow Belgium’s laws.
PhilVG@reddit
True, America has so many things i would like Belgium to implement 🤭
Superb_Extension1751@reddit
In the US it's totally fine to shoot at human silhouettes, shooting at a dog shaped silhouette is heavily frowned upon. Unless you're the ATF of course.

I haven't figured out offhand shooting yet.

Not gross. It was a pointless accident. The worst problem is, every time I count to 10 I gotta unzip.
Toshinit@reddit
unzip the shoes.... right?
AlarmingDetective526@reddit
That’s the spirit, accidents suck but don’t let it get you down. 👍

Three days after the surgery (about two years ago) I had to go back to my surgeon's office to get it unwrapped and checked out.
Me: "Doc, does this mean I can't play the piano again?!"
He looked horrified.
"Well that's ok, I never could before!"
He laughed and called me an asshole.
There's even a benefit to it! 10% off at every nail salon...but being a guy I always just bite 'em so nevermind...

What shotgun did you use?

Glad you're healing well. It's great to see you out at the range. Kudos.
omega552003@reddit
For curiosity, are you using the middle finger on your limited hand?
non-number-name@reddit (OP)
No. I may try that with long arms.
I was using my left finger to actuate the trigger
moving0target@reddit
Looks painful. Hope your finger feels better.

"Here comrade, you shoot like this for fear of shooting fingers!"
