When I was shopping for a 357 revolver last year, I was considering a 686 and saw the PSA listing. It was tempting but too many bad reports of product issues or that they appeared to be used firearms.
Found new Redhawk 357's on sale at Brownell's for $750 so grabbed one of those instead.

This is one of those permanent "sales" on PSA's website.
I thought about buying this for a while, so I'd check back in occasionally and it's always "on clearance" for $699.99 or occasionally $649.99.
The consensus in the reviews is this is S&W's outlet for factory blemish stock.

S&W does their quality control at the consumer level. They figure half the buyers won't notice the defects and rarely shoot them. The other half will return them for repair. This must be cheaper than hiring a QC department with strict tolerances, since 50% of them otherwise wouldn't make it through. I bought a 686+ 4" several years ago and it had to go back. Action would lock up where you couldn't pull the trigger. It came back fixed but still can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Nobody at the range can shoot it straight.

This sub needs to ban PSA. Every post is the normal price marked as sale. I've seen this gun on their website for 18 months at this price.

I got one a week ago. 6 inch. Thing was rusted in the cracks and creases, and the brown paper looked like it had been taken out 6,000 times before. So far so good, timing is correct, very few scratches. I thought I had gotten a used gun at first. Even had brass shavings in the cylinder which freaked me out. Shoots very well though. I will be posting in R/Revolvers about it. All in all I am happy with the purchase, so far.....only have 30 rounds through it.

Chat with SW customer support and have them take a look. They fixed mine after I got what appeared to be a heavily blemishes 686 from PSA
