Lost commercial pilot certificate and cfii checkride next week

I lost my commercial pilot certificate and have my cfii next week. I lost my wallet a few days ago and when I went to fly today realized it was in there. Luckily I was with someone who was pic. What do I do? I’m scared to let my instructor know. Has anyone been in a similar situation and is it possible to get a paper one for the check.

As a commercial pilot going for CFII you should absolutely talk to your DPE and CFI and discuss the truth. Being scare to talk about an event shows poor CRM.

I would lean more toward poor ORM or ADM, not really CRM. If we’re splitting hairs that is.

Breathe, you’re okay. You can get a paper copy. Go to https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/amsrvs and choose the option for getting a temporary airmen certificate

This might sound stupid as I’ve personally never dealt with it but are you able to just print it off online?
I’ve heard they can only mail it to you and I’ve also heard you’re able to just print it out. (I work as a cfi at a part 141 school so we don’t have the brightest pilots here)

yes, once you log in there is an option for them to mail you a replacement as well as print temporary auth for medical and pilot cert. It gets emailed to you in a couple minutes and I think its good for 60 days while waiting for a replacement.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is a great reminder......DON'T carry your certificate in your every day wallet for this very reason! I carried mine with my airline ID or in my flight bag. Put it somewhere that you know will always go with you when you go fly. There is no need to carry it in your every day wallet.

I carry mine in a wallet from Zephyr made for this. It has a clear sleeve for the medical and then space for pilot, instructor certs plus room for my passport card which serves as a government ID and will get me back across the border if I have an emergency over Canada
