my dad gave me as a nice small gift. I think it's a cool item for my collection of current army stuff
InsideWay70@reddit
The army doesn’t use F35s….
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
not your army😅 the IDF does
babyraindrain@reddit
You Israeli?
babyraindrain@reddit
I was asking bc I used to build the f135 engine for our foreign customers….you! They build the domestic engines up in Connecticut and the foreign customers in Florida, I bet they will have fewer contracts coming from our other allies though….
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
yes

Expect a lot of anti Jewish comments any moment now

Well - I stand corrected.

The banner is neat. Try getting the pin that is usually in the landing gear and has that banner attached to it.

You gotta lure away the crew chief first with a white monster & Zyn.

I have the same one! But mine came from the nose mounted guidance system from a GBU-12 Paveway II bomb.
SirFister13F@reddit
I have two. One from an Apache, the other from a Blackhawk. Don't ask me which is which, they're exactly the same.
One of our mechanics had a Remove Before Flight morale patch made and wore it on his uniform, because he hated flying. Always got a chuckle out of me.
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
wow that's awesome
FightingPC@reddit
I have a bunch of these , all different sizes… Mostly use them for loads that extend past the truck bed length.. the good ones from old 36-280 APU’s have cable wires attached to them..
Thisguymoot@reddit
I can’t think of the name but there was a commercial flight that went down after forgetting to remove the flags
MrFickless@reddit
Malaysia 134 departed Brisbane with its pitot covers still attached, made an emergency landing safely.
letigre87@reddit
The Brits lost an F-35 because they forgot to remove one from an inlet
plsthrowmeawayagain@reddit
Would that be PL603 Aeroperu?
Thisguymoot@reddit
I’m trying to find the video I saw about it and found the Green Dot one for that flight, but don’t think that was it. If I remember right, they left the flags on the pito tubes or static tubes
Putrid-Object-806@reddit
There’s likely been several, and I’ve been told of folks who saw them in the gear on pushback, told the FAs and they had to return to the gate
MrFickless@reddit
I've got the same one but from an F-16.
Streamer NAS1756-24 with a pin 16A75061-3. I forget exactly what that pin is for, but I've also got an EPU and a centerline pylon safety pin.

Amazing! I have one from the 492nd Madhatters F-15 squadron based at Lakenheath. I was lucky enough to get it at RIAT 2024 and the pilots, wsos and crew chiefs all signed it!
ElectricalChaos@reddit
Fun fact, these come in different sizes, with the size indicated by the numbers after the dash on the part number.
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
holy shyte lol. kinda funny people are stupendously qualified for something, and have tons of experience, and stuff like this still happen😂

Military Aircraft Maintenance - using a high school diploma to fix what a college degree just fucked up.

Man, a Remove Before Flight tag off an airplane is one of my bucket list items, cool stuff
snowyhockeybum@reddit
Good thing you removed it before it went flying. Good job 🫡
fishiestfillet@reddit
Couldn't be from an f35, it's not stealthy at all 🤣
TawnDC@reddit
I hear they make for a good key chain
odischeese@reddit
Hell I’d frame it 😅😅😅
flightwatcher45@reddit
24" flag, you'll never loose your keys again!

Tag for By Pass Pin

We have that exact same banner for Airbus fan cowl keys.
Pretty sure it's even the same part number, but I'll check on that once I go into work in a few hours.
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
wow that's awesome. let me know!
cultured_pork@reddit
It's the same part number. I have made thousands and thousands of these. NAS1756 is the designation, and the dash number is the length. The most common are -12, -24, and -36. There are custom lengths, and some custom colors for the rubber coated vinyl and ink.
They are sometimes sold with ball-lock pins per the order, but are often shipped naked.
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
I see. would be cool if you made this one haha
cultured_pork@reddit
I always like to check to see when I see them to see if it's one I might have made.
That being said, I was doing that during a time when PPE and ventilation wasn't a requirement, so I'm kind of slow.
Putrid-Object-806@reddit
It’s cool that you make them, it’s presumably something that every manufacturer agrees may as well be used cause it’s already certified. I’m guessing the length is in inches?
cultured_pork@reddit
Correct on dash number to length. I have been out of the GSE industry for a long time after my dad passed away. He owned and ran several GSE machine/fab shops for 40+ years. Boeing licensed etc. Did a lot of work for Airbus, air force, etc.
Mostly proprietary from our in house engineering department, but tons of stuff like this is stock standard.
I made a bit of a post a while back about GSE if anyone wants, and I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

This would be a cool tie
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
lol fr
amcl1986@reddit
NAS refers to “National Aeronautical Standard” parts. So it’s not likely to be very rare… but still cool to say where you got it from 👍
Patient-Oven9996@reddit (OP)
I see :) good to know! and yeah it's still pretty cool, even though I technically have no way of proving which specific plane it came from lol
