Ride them while you have the chance. Only 3 airlines still operate 747s. Air China Korean and Lufthansa. Korean has already sold some of theirs. Air China too. I’m guessing the rest will be gone in a few years.
Will Lufthansa be willing to keep an orphan fleet operating? I don’t know their plans but as the number of examples flying get smaller the costs per unit go up for parts.

17 747-800s will go into the next decade, 2 sold to the us gov
-400 ends in 2027 when boeing delivera the 777x in time

I will be very sad if the last queens abdicate.
Such an iconic plane.

I love how they give absolutely no shits about matching the color on the engine nacelles

She's still got the old livery, I think she will have a new look after the next maintenance
luv2ctheworld@reddit
Couldn't they have thrown in a splash of gold/yellow for their 100th anniversary livery? That blue and gold is iconic.

Let's see if I've got something interesting... yup!

They have for D-AISZ!
Not exactly the Super Crane livery, but it's another centennial livery

Seriously, a sparkling gold line between the blue/white would be simple but add so, so much here!
FZ_Milkshake@reddit
Yeah, their historical liveries are so much more colorful than the modern one.
And it's not that the modern ones are bad as such, the 100th anniversary looks good and even the normal modern one is fine, just much more generic and uninspired than the older grey belly fried egg one.

An old 747 in new colours and a new 747 in old colours.
PhoenixK@reddit (OP)
yeah, the irony
thesuperunknown@reddit
It’s actually mostly aluminiuminy
Carolina__034j@reddit
Yeah, most of their B748’s still use the previous livery.
Vau8@reddit
The partially refurbished engine cowlings on the Yankee-Sierra still need a bit of gray paint.
