Just gonna throw it out there that this vendor is garbage. They're notorious for over selling their stock and cancelling orders weeks after they are placed.
shaneinhisroom@reddit
Man I am lucky to have Academy nearby that stock all Brazil steel. With the CC I am 18.9cpr out the door all day.
glyphosate_enjoyer@reddit
Yup, I stacked about 7000 rounds for my SS MP5 at 18.9cpr. Don't feel bad blowing through a $8.50 box.
Mahlegos@reddit
All the steel case at academy is Brazilian by the way, it’s the brass that can vary.
kyle12098@reddit
I’m newish to firearms, so please have mercy on me. I thought I’ve read that steel casing increases wear on handguns and brass is more ideal. Do I have that wrong?
Mahlegos@reddit
The difference in wear is minute, and the main thing that would see increased wear is the extractor which is generally a cheap fix that is more than made up by the savings across the thousands and thousands of rounds it takes to wear one out. The main benefit of brass cases is the ability to reload them, but if you don’t reload then it’s not a benefit. If the cost is the same, sure go for brass, but generally steel case is at least a couple cents per round less.
Dr_Tron@reddit
It is dirtier, though, as the steel case doesn't seal as well to the chamber, so you get more blowback from a steel case. I would agree that the increase in wear is not significant.
I used to shoot aluminum casings when they were significantly cheaper than brass, alas, that's not been the case for quite some time now.
Legitimate-Simple-98@reddit
Their 115 is back to Magtech at least from my orders all the way back to Dec- this month.
Mahlegos@reddit
Magtech came back into the fold for brass in like August last year. But it can vary by the size. I can say 250 round boxes have been magtech at mine since then, but others have reported getting Turkish sometimes when they buy online and the 50 rd boxes can be either and I think the 400rd ammo cans or whatever are Turkish.
Legitimate-Simple-98@reddit
ah I always get the 250 rounders.
jamiegc1@reddit
Shooting steel case in your 200 acre backyard or something?
shaneinhisroom@reddit
You know it
rusty-shackleford_69@reddit
I don't live in a place with Academy nearby. I was visiting a place last week that did. If Delta didn't limit passengers to 11lbs of ammunition in their checked bag, I probably would have brought back a few thousand rounds haha
Boolostmymain@reddit
Never purchased from trueshot, are they gtg?
Bizaro_Stormy@reddit
Their shipping sucks, took 3 weeks to even put it in the mail for my last order and ignored my email when I reached out to them. Though I got scammed.
spacexfalcon@reddit
ive purchased twice, both times it said it was in stock, a week later they cancelled it.
Bear2th@reddit (OP)
I’ve had 4-5 orders from them go smoothly but some people claim they oversell and cancel orders on occasion
InfiniteWalrus09@reddit
Dirty. It’s not bad at this price. Honestly between the dirtiness and the large packaging, I prefer other brands like S&B. Storage space is not a minor issue
iraisecane@reddit
At least the price is coming down we were selling it for $210 all in, to your door several months ago we'll get there again
JOEYballsGOTTI@reddit
So much better to see this than the 30 cpr posts lmao
JohnB413@reddit
But isn’t this ammo “dirty”?
shutterErv@reddit
Not as dirty as Winchester white box from my personal experience.
1rubyglass@reddit
Had a couple of white box 9mm cases malfunction consistently in 4 different firearms. Never again.
AwkwardSploosh@reddit
WWB is gross. Also S&B leaves glitter everywhere. Those Czechs must have gotten too close to the dancers or something.
skECCH1@reddit
Those who down voted didn't catch the other post I guess ☹️
Mahlegos@reddit
Stuff being “dirty” is extremely over stated around here honestly. The issue with this stuff is it’s plated instead of jacketed, which can be an issue with ports and suppressors since the plating can break off and cause spalling out of the ports or collecting in the suppressor. On top of that, they don’t taper crimp or knurl the bullet which means it’s more prone to setback which can blow up a gun from increased pressure.
AcceptableHumor6241@reddit
Blazer only states a potential issue with ports/comps correct. As far as I can see, suppressors are never mentioned as a problem and people have reported thousands upon thousands of rounds through suppressors with no issues. Am I missing something?
Mahlegos@reddit
The reason it’s a potential problem in ports/comps is jacket separation. Jacket separation isn’t only a possibility in a ported/comped gun, it’s just an issue there vs a regular barrel because the ports/comp can let out spalling and/or clog while it just exits the muzzle on a regular barrel. That however means it can also be a problem for suppressors. Pieces of the jacket can get caught in the suppressor too, clogging it up, making it less effective or even damaging it.
Suppressors turning into maracas have in fact been mentioned. Here’s one example(look at the reviews of one star with pics of jackets caught in suppressor) with others out there.
People have also shot thousands upon thousands of blazer through ported guns without complaining of issues though we both agree that they exist. Similarly tons of people have shots tons of turkish ammo without issue but we hear about the guns that get blown up and some people choose not to take the risk. Thats all not to mention the setback issues blazer has too. Same idea here, informed decisions and all that.
AwkwardSploosh@reddit
I experienced a jacket separation in a non-ported PDP steel frame with Blazer 124. So I can confirm this. It deposited lead in my barrel and tore open every round after it, which made a super cool helical pattern on the paper at 7 yards around the impact hole. This was one in about 5k round on that lot, and PDPs have very smooth barrels, so I could see a button cut barrel having this issue more often. I may have also gotten one unlucky bullet.
CommunalJellyRoll@reddit
So are buttholes, yet they are still fun.
Coldones@reddit
It’s not the cleanest, but it’s far from the dirtiest
JohnB413@reddit
It was just a play on that other post and the guy complaining lol
Coldones@reddit
oh true, I guess I missed that one
JOEYballsGOTTI@reddit
I got the sarcasm at least lol, seems like most others didn't
MAS0NIC0RIGON@reddit
All ammo is dirty
Aerial_Burial_88@reddit
Molly's was selling 147gr blazer for $200 a case OTD in like November. People really don't understand yet how good we were cookin in 2025.
I stacked it deep
Sunny_Singh10@reddit
Americans r broke. Last 2 months was an organized FOMO campaign that was completed inorganic.
Prices will return to 20c / rd for 9mm and 38c/rd for 223 in abt 6 months
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Saving this post so in October I can say I expected it to be 38c
Sunny_Singh10@reddit
Nov for BF. Save it ...
romang12@reddit
Exactly. Who the fuck has money to buy anything let alone ammo. Fuck these price gougers. They wanted to create a panic buy but they forgot that people can't even pay their bills.
Phil_smash@reddit
It’s 250 now :(
PlasmaDragon007@reddit
Nice, after shipping and taxes this is $254 vs $280 at Target Sports... maybe I don't need that membership after all
Aware_Donkey_6074@reddit
Target Sports membership hasn’t been worth it for over 5 years now.
Automatic_Hat7833@reddit
Ship to ffl03 in California? Going to put in an order and find out.
Dieselfumes_tech@reddit
Yes they do
Midwest_Hunter92@reddit
That other guy would rather spend 30cpr
Rfelipe647@reddit
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
WatercressStreet2084@reddit
Nature is healing
KreamDaSavage@reddit
9mm has been around this price for a bit at academy. If this site is no tax tho >>€
IntrospectiveApe@reddit
PSA, i just got 5 250 packs at Academy, 2 were Brazil, 3 were Turkey.
redditagainsam@reddit
Shipped or was this in store?
IntrospectiveApe@reddit
Curbside pickup to take advantage of the 10% off online orders.
I got it home and you can't return ammo.
Legitimate-Simple-98@reddit
You will have no issues with the Turkey stuff. I have shot over 10k of the stuff from Academy. Zero issues.
IntrospectiveApe@reddit
It's BPS. I've shot plenty of it. It's spicy so I like to use it to break in new guns, but it's dirty. I'm not as fond of cleaning as I am of shooting.
Legitimate-Simple-98@reddit
Ive actually havnt had any issues with BPS (all of my Turkish has been BPS). My AKV can be sensitive sometimes to hard primers since it has a STUPID low poundage trigger pull. But havnt had problems even in that.
IntrospectiveApe@reddit
I haven't shot steel ammo in a long time, but if prices keep rising, I'm gonna start shooting it again.
Legitimate-Simple-98@reddit
If you can get Monarch steel cased, its good stuff.
Bear2th@reddit (OP)
Academy slightly hiked their flat rate shipping costs too. This is just slightly better at the moment
KreamDaSavage@reddit
Ahh, im near a couple locations. Good looks posting for those that need shipping
TowTruckrnCopseatmya@reddit
Noob here. These would be good for ranges that only do brass bullets right? It being FMJ does not change the fact that its mostly brass?
1610925286@reddit
You should do some research into what brass vs steel case is and why ranges care.
TowTruckrnCopseatmya@reddit
Do some research? It's a simple question.
1610925286@reddit
Okay then don't, I'm suggesting learning the background, because your question shows you don't actually know the basics. Bullets are not made from brass, there are no brass bullets. Guess taking it personal is always an option.
orpnu@reddit
Uhh, there are plenty of fully brass bullets. Don't try to act like a jackass when you aren't even right.
https://barnesbullets.com/bullets/bullet-material/solid-brass/.
1610925286@reddit
What a stupid fucking response.
orpnu@reddit
Don't be mad because you are wrong and an asshole about it
1610925286@reddit
Machined brass bullets are not regular ammo and you fucking know it. This is like linking a taofledermaus video about tungsten bullets as if that was related to the experience of buying box ammo and what ranges accept. But go off redditor.
orpnu@reddit
Aww now your trying to pretend you didn't say something was non-existent and justify that with this bullshit response.
It's okay to be wrong. It's not okay to be a cunt for no reason.
Don't be a cunt.
1610925286@reddit
The most difficult concept to understand for a redditor, context.
orpnu@reddit
Ranges don't like steel case because of brass sorting. You can't reload brass and a lot of ranges have contracts to sell the brass. They say it's a fire hazard, but steel cased ammo is no more dangerous than brass. The only true potential issues are the fully steel rounds or steel cased bullets, and those are magnetic. If your ammo doesn't stick to a magnet at the bullet, it's probably good to go at an indoor range.
Fmj is full metal jacket. That just means the lead inside the round is fully encapsulated in brass or some other metal one way or another. Blazer isn't a true jacket, it's plating, so on comps and suppressors it can sometimes shed the jacket surrounding the lead projectile. I'll be honest though, I blast a shit ton of blazer through my p10c ported, and it doesn't give a fuck.
Tactical_Tubesock@reddit
You can’t reload brass?
orpnu@reddit
Mistyped. Can't reload steel
CamelAdventure@reddit
FMJ doesn't tell you about the case (steel vs brass) material
Bear2th@reddit (OP)
Yup. Only issue you might have with blazer and cheaper plated ammo is that it might shave off in certain compensators / ports. But your mileage may vary
International-Goat18@reddit
Tax to TX KILLS THE DEAL $250
jsar16@reddit
Oos
Bear2th@reddit (OP)

miktoo@reddit
so, you'd rate that 3.6?
Temporary_Traffic622@reddit
Their only decent sporting store is cabelas
FitBananers@reddit
We actually don’t have Cabelas in CA actually per se, rather Bass Pro
HyperbaricGasChamber@reddit
Lets try this a shot. Last time they canceled my order twice because they ran out of "stock"
spacexfalcon@reddit
same thing happened to me
CosmoM3@reddit
How long did it take for them to ship?
CamelAdventure@reddit
Academy is usually pretty quick, 1 business day
ThermosphericRah@reddit
When blazer is 231 u know we fuct
shoyorollplayboyy@reddit
Just put an order of some 200rds 308 xtac PMC
$263 shipped
Former_Power6209@reddit
Tax to FL, ~$242 shipped. Better than recent, but imma pass. Thanks for sharing OP
thecal714@reddit
$255.26 to WA
RNAguns@reddit
Copped 2k of this from Academy two weeks ago for $437 shipped. I think code "delp" might give a discount on True Shot though.
Bear2th@reddit (OP)
Same $10 off but good looking out
Someone had a $20 off code a while back when they had the pmc .223 deal, but it doesn’t work anymore haha
BrickedBrainedBoy@reddit
Dang is anyone else getting $241 in the cart?
WoodenGlobes@reddit
The war is over, you tried, but it's getting old. We all know better by now.
