We grew up when TV Guide was the way to know when a show aired

Wasn't until my mid 20s did I figure out that "TO BE ANNOUNCED" wasn't a news show.

A friend of my moms got a giant tv in the 90s and it had the guide on it and it seemed to luxurious

We used the one that came in the Sunday paper. As I recall it had everything you needed for regular antenna/broadcast.
Even when dad had cable installed and had the boxes with tri-selector buttons we still didn’t get the guide.

I still have a few TV Guides with Star Trek on the cover, from 25-30 years ago. When I showed them to my kids their minds could not even understand the concept.

We just had antenna channels. And the paper had the schedule. 🤷

We used to get The TV Times in our local paper, I think it came Thursday and had the listings for the entire week.
I still think that was better than trying to scroll through modern on screen cable guides.

I also thought "To Be Announced" was a show. I don't know what I thought it was. Maybe some boring news panel or something.

We could not afford TV Guide. We used the TV section from the Sunday paper.

Yup. TV Guide was for rich kids who probably had cable.
I remember begging my parents for cable. Dad swore he would never pay for tv.
Guess what mom and dad got once us kids moved out? Cable.

The print TV guide still exists! My bestie freakin’ loves it and still gets it

But it's just a national primetime grid now, right? No more daytime listings or separate versions for each part of the country?

I really have no idea. It’s not like I go to his house and leaf through it. All I know was that I laughed when he told me he still gets it.
