I really like the Monstrum LPVO, it had that "futuristic" look and it's a hell of an LPVO for just at $100

Looks great! Don't let the haters get you down about the brand. I literally design optic systems for tanks for a living, so I have a bit of understanding about optics quality, vibration, shock, etc.. I own several Monstrum optics for my personal rifles (as well as higher end optics as well for you brand snobs out there). They have come a long way in a short time. I use their 3x and 5x flip to side magnifiers on several setups too with a basic Romeo 5 dot. Really hard to screw that combo up.

Hell yeah man
Extension_Chip_640@reddit
It’s got that look like the weapon that the soldiers used in the movie Aliens - M41 pulse rifle
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
Wow, I looked that up and yeah, it totally does lmao

Respect for going with monstrum for the vibe, was thinking about getting the terminator for my Tavor 7 for the same reason
Chomps-Lewis@reddit
I really wish I could get one of these, but to make them NY compliant would really mess it up.

I see that Monstrum Arc Angel my boy. Fuck the haters. I love Monsteum LPVO scopes. I have 4 and never had one lose zero yet. Monstrum fuckkkks.
The gun community is full of "what I do is best" elitist. Do what works for you. I fuckin do.
Very nice build my friend.
Its wild the gun community dudes wants to name drop brands like they are womens purses or something.....
I go with what works and is reliable to me.

Lmao, thanks bro

There is something so aesthetically pleasing about this, I can't quite place it...but it calls to me.
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
Thanks man, glad you like it :)

And what, pray tell, are we loling about?

The reality of the optics world is you get what you pay for. There is a point of diminishing returns but the sweet spot is between $500 and $2k depending on feature needs. Below that tends to be low quality optics and poor durability. The optic may be fine for a few magazines but eventually the zero will be off and the adjustments will stop tracking properly. If there's illumination that typically also stops working. For a range toy it may not sound like much of an issue until you're out and it breaks without a way to shoot without it and ends your shooting day early.
IudexJudy@reddit
There are dozens of optics that are below $500 and are great lmao
Distinct_Arrival_445@reddit
In the LPVO category? No their are not. Sure some red dots might be but that's a much simpler optic than a variable power optic.
CommunalJellyRoll@reddit
They are good not great.
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
Thanks for actually giving a structured response and not just being contrarian.
MCX-moc-creator@reddit
He's just flat out wrong, in the past couple years monstrum has started creating great scopes, have one on my ak and one on my AR, both are holding zero and working flawlessly after over a thousand rounds each.
Distinct_Arrival_445@reddit
We all start somewhere, I have a pile of dead or abandoned cheap optics. I grew up with a family that were very basic on their hunting rifle set ups with standard 3x9 duplex optics. They cost like $150 in the 90s and worked for that 10-20 shots a year those rifles had. Something like a semi auto that's going to have a different recoil impulse and probably be shot for hundreds of rounds in a single day will kill optics like that. The most famous example is the SCAR 17 that even killed quality optics when it first came out. Now most quality manufacturers build their optics to withstand its abuse.
Greedy-Vast584@reddit
you'll never get love for Monstrum unfortunately.. if it works for you, ignore them
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
Thanks bro, that's some solid advice :)
sporknitebattlepass@reddit
It works fine most of the time tbh, and if it doesn’t they’ll replace it. They changed their manufacturing a lot in the past couple years. I bought one of their LPVOs for one of my spare rifles and was surprised that it was nicer than some of the stuff I’ve been issued

Why a hellion over IWI?
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
The idea was to have the rifle be as ambidextrous as possible, I even switched the ejection port because I wanted to be able to keep my right hand (yes im right handed) on the trigger while operating the rifle with my left hand, for things such as checking the chamber, and scope zooming, that and about a $200 price diff and the IWI doesn't have ambi charging handle. I had someone claim if I swapped to left ejec. while being right handed i'd ead gas and brass, wasnt the case, I have no issues with it ejecting left side, same goes for lefties with default ejection. That idea carried over to my sidearm as well, USP Expert 9mm, ambi safety decocker. I guess I thought about it like, "if I have to give my weapon to someone to use because I'm too injured to use it in an emergency, it won't matter if they're left or right-handed"
Ausco_1995@reddit
Hellion!? more like hell yeah!!!
ZaneThePain@reddit
You don’t need a range finder to pace out 50 yards
Proud-Positive4551@reddit (OP)
Try doing it on a hill thats like about as steep as what hickock45 shoots on
