Struggling to get Chocolate Doom running on an Intermec CV30 Windows CE device

Hi all!
A while back I picked up a pair of these neat Intermec CV30 ruggedized WinCE 5.0 devices. They're big and chonky and kinda ugly and I love them
Like any good nerd, my current obsession is to get one of them running Doom. I've used an SD card to copy over the Windows CE version of Chocolate Doom + a doom.wad file, and the Doom app and setup app installed without error. However, I now have two frustrating problems:
-
When I run the Setup app for Chocolate Doom, it seems to be 'zoomed in' and runs off the side and bottom of the screen, to the point where I can't see most of the options or save any settings changes.
-
When I run the Chocolate Doom app (without having completed the Setup process as noted above), it immediately fails with a "Failed when allocating 16777216 bytes" error. This device has 100MB of RAM so presumably it should be able to run, right?
Here are a couple pics showing what I'm describing above: https://imgur.com/a/ImNZTTw
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome - I'm a newbie with WinCE 5.0!

I did try on HTC universal (VGA display, 64M RAM). It behaves exactly the same.
I did manage to fix the setup, by using TrueVGA, you can try if your device has a vga display.
But it didn't fix the game itself. in the stdout.txt i have Z_Init: Init zone memory allocation daemon.
Can't quickly find any param to control that allocation in the code. So I guess it's not helpful, but you're not alone :)
