Finally joined the club! [Bazzite]

After the longest time contemplating installing linux, I finally made the decision to dualboot it alongside windows. I will be mainly using it over Windows just to get the basics and who knows, maybe I'll fully switch one day.
I love it so far, I've always loved the idea of linux. I have tried installing it on my old MacBook Pro 2017 model but I didn't have any success getting most of the things like WiFi and sound to work, but I did gain some experience from it which slightly familiarized me with Linux.
I will say, though, so many posts were putting Bazzite on a pedestal saying its the best for gaming and such, and I'm not denying that or anything, but it frustrates me that when it came to doing some things I found it a bit harder as from my experience Bazzite isn't the most compatible distro out there. I always get hit with the "Bazzite is an atomic (semi-immutable) Linux distribution, so installing (insert app name here) is different from traditional distributions like Ubuntu or Fedora." And then I find myself being limited to the Bazaar and Flatpaks. Now it could just be me not knowing what the hell I'm doing and I really hope that that's the case, so if it is, please let me know.
Anyway I have much much to learn, thank you everyone and have a blessed day.

You can “layer” rpm packages ontop of bazzite base, but that kinda defeats its purpose and is not recommended. By locking down the base system it reduces the chances of you shooting yourself in the foot.
Yes, sandboxed apps (flatpaks) are slightly less convenient at times but much safer and separate from the base. I use them whenever possible. But notably not for my browser or nextcloud-client.
Go with a different distro if you want to install a lot of apps from repos directly.
I recommend Kubuntu. After months of testing the two I saw no difference in game performance.
