I recall reading a book about a couple from England? Who basically built their own boat, it was junk rigged and had a wood stove - and cruised everywhere in it. They had some kind of a system that plugged legs into the hull for big low tides so they could repair / bottom paint as needed.
I will try to find the book, read it many years ago.
It would almost have to be for it to not be on it's side, no? Or maybe it has twin rudders? My eyes can't quite make sense of what I'm seeing but I see at least one reference on the Bestevaer site that says they're capable of drying out. It has to be resting on something.

Balancing on a wing keel? That seems prone to bad consequences.

I mean they've already got a saildrive so why not roll the dice again?

Smart to keep the fenders out! Wouldn’t want to damage the hull!

My dream boat!

That's a cool idea but what about drag while under sail?
polyKiss@reddit
Their whole approach was much more about ease of maintenance and durability than making good time.
The book is Voyaging on a Small Income by Annie Hill - and they built their own boat named Badger.
Again I haven’t read the book in many years but I recall really enjoying it.

Thank ya for the recommendation I love a good read

No bracing?

It's hard to tell from this angle but it might be a bilge keel.

Does this strike you as intentional? Look at the boat.
smootex@reddit
At what specifically? It's hard to assume too much from a single photo but she looks fine to me (grounding aside).
Raneynickelfire@reddit
That boat looks fine to you? Clean your monitor and look again.
smootex@reddit
Can you be more specific?

Sad
Quint87@reddit
Why sad? Dude has to clean his boat on low tide

Don't suppose the anchor & road is doing any good at this point... did someone yell 'Land Hoe!"

Looks like a beautiful Bestevaer :)

Exactly. Judging from the pilot house, I’d say you’re on the money! 👌🏻
