Stevens 320 Security model (home defense version)
• 12 gauge pump-action
• Black synthetic stock
• Short barrel (\~18.5”)
• Bead sight (simple front sight)
• Tube magazine under barrel

It’s not worth much
Kugelfischer_47@reddit
If you're absolutely sure it's not been reported stolen or used in commission of a crime. I believe someone recently posted about selling a firearm inherited from a family member that was flagged as stolen.
Quirky-Base2590@reddit (OP)
So there’s nothing I need to do as far as a legal transfer or anything I can just post it and sell it?
Nguy94@reddit
Nah. It’d be like if he left an unlocked iPad behind with Find My turned off.
It’s yours now. But like others said, don’t take it to a store. Verizon would give you pennies for an iPad compared to someone local and private same goes for shooty things.
TigerJas@reddit
“It’d be like if he left an unlocked iPad behind with Find My turned off.”
Yes, it would be the same in both cases. Theft.
SaltyDog556@reddit
If someone out of state wants to buy it you'd have to ship it to a licensed dealer in the other person's state or that person would need to come to FL and have a dealer in FL transfer it to keep it legal for federal purposes. Always have the buyer pay for those costs.
FL is cash and carry as long as you don't reasonably know the buyer is a prohibited person.
Karddet@reddit
Nope, not in Florida. As long as he doesn't report it stolen it's fine. If you have a message from him stating that he is leaving it for you it wouldn't hurt to save that message just in case, but legally you don't have to file any paperwork to transfer it to yourself just to sell. I will say though, don't sell to a pawn shop or gun shop if you can help it, look for a private party buyer so you can pocket the full amount instead of the roughly 50% you would be offered from a store
Strong_Dentist_7561@reddit
I would personally advise and recommend to keep it. Seek out local instructors to give you a foundational education with firearms.
Penguin_Life_Now@reddit
In Florida it is just like he had left a television, there is no gun registration law, and you don't have to involve a gun shop in selling it. You can sell it for cash to whoever you want to, as long as you don't knowingly sell it to a prohibited person.
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
Did he say that's it's yours, effectively gifting it to you, or did he just forget to bring it with him?
If it's yours then you can sell it. If it's his then you can sell it. I wouldn't expect much money for it, maybe $150.
Quirky-Base2590@reddit (OP)
Yeah, he accidentally left it. He moved out of state and I texted him and he responded that I can sell it. He doesn’t want it.
beef_raid@reddit
Save that correspondence somewhere physical. Screenshot it and print it, stick it on a fire box
JoseSaldana6512@reddit
Don't listen to this. Terrible advice. Stick it inside the Firefox so fire can't get to it.
beef_raid@reddit
I keep all my fire in the box. I was recommending to keep it warm so that if you need it as evidence, it’s hot and ready.
Nguy94@reddit
Idk why this is so funny to me.
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
If you are over 18 and not prohibited from owning a firearm then he effectively gifted it to you and it's yours to do with what you please.
notoriousbpg@reddit
Or... keep it and learn to shoot? A local indoor range should let you use slugs or 00 buckshot. Got anyone who could mentor you?
PostingToPassTime@reddit
Most people don't want to start with a 12gauge and bruise their should with slugs or 00 while going out to learn to shoot a firearm.
Divenity@reddit
That's what low recoil loads are for.
Nguy94@reddit
Not OP but man the closest indoor range to me that allows shotguns indoors is out of state 😅
brainygeek@reddit
What state? Most ranges that I've been to across the country allow shotguns indoors as long as you are using slugs.
Nguy94@reddit
Ohio, I shouldn’t say there are none, but they are so few that I stopped looking. I pretty much only shoot pistols indoors or 556 suppressed. It’s easier than trying to figure out all the range rules.
Divenity@reddit
If you have no other firearms, I really recommend you just keep it and learn to shoot it if you don't already know how. Buy some low recoil buckshot if you're scared of the kick and go find a range with in house instructors that will teach you to shoot it... Even if you plan to sell it anyways I'd say go shoot it some first anyways, uou never know, you might enjoy it and find yourself a new hobby.
d3lta8@reddit
Keep it for home defense
joelfarris@reddit
Aren't Floridians required to have a shotgun in the closet as part of their homeowner's contract?
smokeyser@reddit
Got to be ready for when the gators and pythons rise up and take over the cities.
CasCrus4L@reddit
Keep it in case he comes back
simplearms@reddit
These are really cheap. Maybe $100 or so.
LunchboxKovacs@reddit
Better off just keeping it. You'll be lucky to get $150 for it
Big10mmDE@reddit
It’s a solid piece to keep if you wanted, with a buttstock slugs and buckshot won’t be terrible in recoil, you could shoot it with birdshot to get a feel for it before graduating to something with stouter recoil. Or sell it as you wish, a local face to face purchase probably around $150 will get it sold, taking to a pawn or gunshop won’t get much at all.
Cmonster9@reddit
It's yours. Florida allows for private transfers of pistols and long guns without a background check as long as you are not a prohibited person such as a felon, convicted of domestic violations or have been institutionalized involuntary.
In other states that are not so free it would not be legal unless it was a gift and you were married.
Possible_Farm4535@reddit
I'll take it off your hands hmu
thatARMSguy@reddit
Dude even joking about that will get you banned from reddit
Excellent_Goat2093@reddit
Its reddit do yall actually care if your banned? Like realistically it does not affect your real life in the slightest
STG_Resnov@reddit
The sub can possibly get banned depending on what was said, so yes.
Excellent_Goat2093@reddit
So if the firearms sub got banned it would affect your daily life?
ChrisWhiteWolf@reddit
It's a forum where people get to talk about something they enjoy.
If you give so little of a shit about it that you think no one should put any effort in making sure it doesn't get banned, why are you even here?
Excellent_Goat2093@reddit
I dont. Just letting people know it aint that serious. As its a reddit group… mind you there are multiple that all show the same things lol
thatARMSguy@reddit
There’s over 200k people who use it, so yeah it would be an inconvenience to a lot of people
Excellent_Goat2093@reddit
Its just pictures of guns man😂
Big_Z_Diddy@reddit
If this is the type of situation where you are the tilted lover and want to do this to "get back at him", I STRONGLY advise against it. It won't end like you think it will.
If he actually gave it to you (as in he explicitly said "You can have this shotgun"), then yes, you are free to do whatever you want with it (as in sell it, keep it, give it away, etc). If he just left it there when he moved out, then no, he could report it stolen, and you would be charged for theft of a firearm, which is a felony.
If the case is the latter, and he just left it at your house, you should call him and ask what his plans are for the gun. If he wants it, give him a reasonable time frame to come get it.
ljasonl@reddit
How much will you sell for? I’m also in Florida DM if needed
semperfi_ny@reddit
Abandoned property. Do as you wish, personally I'd keep it.
GaybutNotbutGay@reddit
If he gave it to you then yes
HeughJanus@reddit
if he gave you permission to do so otherwise it would be considered stolen
