Why can’t I uber a roast dinner?

Ever fancy a roast but can’t be bothered with cooking it - OR just don’t need a whole bit of beef? 🥩 only ones I occassionally see are the dodge pubs I don’t eat at - so serious question why is this not a thing? If it was would you order in a roast or stick with an Indian/chinese?
grafeisen203@reddit
I can order a carvery where I am, there must just not be any who do delivery where you're at, or at least not on Uber.
FornyHucker22@reddit
I’ve seen it advertised at a toby carvery
Jimmy90081@reddit
Toby Carvery. Kind of decent. Hey do take out orders. Not going to be top rated roast though, but better than most.
EconomicsAfraid7880@reddit
"take out"
How about you take yourself out of this god damn sub.
Thandoscovia@reddit
Easy bro, it’s not someone else’s fault that they’re born foreign
Jimmy90081@reddit
Your twaddle is of no consequence to me. Go have a mundane day, you daft Pringle.
Mountain-Advisor-149@reddit
Are you ok?
PurchaseDry9350@reddit
Oh you're so British, how wonderful 🙄
Shot_Net3794@reddit
Fight, fight, fight
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
There's an English takeaway at the top of my road which lets you do just that
Alert_Mine7067@reddit
I'm curious, is this like a chippy or is this a special place that sells roast dinners, hotpot, bangers and mash etc ?
Alert_Mine7067@reddit
Interesting, I live in NI and we have nothing like this to my knowledge, although I think it would probably be something similar, or else it would only sell Sunday dinners, Ulster Fry's and champ.
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
Yeah the second option - tbf I've never seen it anywhere else
Brave_Trifle_2493@reddit (OP)
I’ve never seen an English takeaway. What else to they do?
Prudent-Level-7006@reddit
Bloody English people coming to my country, taking British people jobs
HoboStrider@reddit
I kind of wish we had a British Version of this as some kind of Kebab Shop. Like a Roast Spot, Roasteries, Roast Houses.
Only ever seen stuff like those giant Yorkshire puddings at food markets.
Alert_Mine7067@reddit
If I'm using a takeaway service then it would have to be Chinese, Pizza, Chippy, or Indian although Indian isn't to my taste.
For me, a takeaway roast dinner doesn't sound appetising, even though I'm sure it's probably fine. It has to be cooked at home or in a restaurant and travel a short distance from the kitchen to the table that I'm eating it at.
Tigweg@reddit
That does seem weird. I can order a proper roast dinner, cooked by a Brit and delivered, and I live in Hanoi!
Brave_Trifle_2493@reddit (OP)
Haha but far for delivery for me unfortunately !
beavertownneckoil@reddit
Don't know if it's because I live up North but I've got an alright selection to pick from
Brave_Trifle_2493@reddit (OP)
I’m jealous. We’ve got no oven at the moment and I just really fancy a roast at home
BillyJoeDubuluw@reddit
There’s at least a couple of “mobile roast dinner” options in my area… They took off in lockdown and obviously remained popular enough to carry on…
I don’t think it’s the biggest takeaway choice but it’s definitely available out there.
misanthreddit@reddit
I just can't imagine it being delivered and being good personally.
I love a good roast but by the time you're doing that it's always going to be a half way house.
AncientImprovement56@reddit
You can get a Toby Carvery one where I am (or could last time I checked). It wasn't well reviewed (I think partly due to not travelling well), so I got something else.
SemtaCert@reddit
"only ones I occassionally see are the dodge pubs I don’t eat at"
What makes them dodgy?
Brave_Trifle_2493@reddit (OP)
I’ve seen them get bad reviews for food so I steer clear
Prudent-Level-7006@reddit
Thought you were brave
Mr_Vacant@reddit
Roast potatoes don't sit well. When they've sat in a tray under a heat lamp for 5 minutes they are already losing any crunch they may have had. Putting them in a box so they can steam themselves into a soft mush during the car ride seems like a crime.
Free the roasties. Oven to plate in 3 minutes or less!
spoo4brains@reddit
I don't think I have ever had crunchy roast spuds from a carvery, they are always disappointing compared to what I make at home.
Travels_Belly@reddit
You can. They're 3 places that deliver a Sunday roast where I am in SE London. It's just not available where you are.
Altruistic-Sun-1452@reddit
Toby Carvery has a decent roast
NoFewSatan@reddit
It is a thing, just not where you are.
Brave_Trifle_2493@reddit (OP)
Thanks I think this is my answer!
Western_Sort501@reddit
Couple of pubs near me that do carvery put the left overs on too good to go
laconicwheeze@reddit
They don't travel well
Spiritual_Tie3348@reddit
Probably because you don't use the pubs that do it😂
Careless-Giraffe-623@reddit
There are some carvery type pub/restaurants near me that deliver on Uber etc.
I guess it just depends where you live.
It think it's mostly reheatable quite well but the yorkies will suffer.
mailywhale@reddit
It is a thing. you’ve said yourself pubs local to you do it, just not fancy ones. I wouldn’t get one because I don’t really imagine it would travel well or be nice. This might be why fancier pubs don’t offer it
Flaramon@reddit
You can, look for local pub menus.
iolaus79@reddit
You can
Where my husband used to work they used to order one every Sunday if they were working
Apprehensive-Top3675@reddit
You can get Toby Carvery through Uber Eats.
vipros42@reddit
You can
