Little do they know what a pain in the ass it is for the boys up front
Baron_VonLongSchlong@reddit
Whatcha mean pain upfront?
Blue_foot@reddit
The pilots were already planning their steak dinner.
Now they have to go back to work to fly another landing pattern. Call the airline to tell them about it. Calculate fuel, landing weight, blah blah. Talk to ATC. Etc.
And if there was a near miss boo boo there will be some reports to take care of.
Maruan-007@reddit (OP)
It’s literally another 15/20 minutes to the flight, their steak will be still available and paper work it’s just something that is part of their job.
CessnaBandit@reddit
It’s not
Dr_Peter_Venkman_@reddit
It is
CessnaBandit@reddit
Not for me. Just routine
zone_of-danger@reddit
Routine in a Cessna, not in a jet. It’s a pain in the ass to go missed.
CessnaBandit@reddit
I have 32 years experience flying everything from 737-200 to 747
poser765@reddit
If you’ve been doing this for 32 years why are you going around so routinely? I do like one a year not counting the few I do in the box at the school house.
Sort yourself out.
CessnaBandit@reddit
Funny
poser765@reddit
It is. I probably already need to piss, and I’m in reserve so I’m not working hard time. I’d rather just land and be in my way.
Spin737@reddit
They don’t understand. I’ll give you an upvote.
suddenly_seymour@reddit
One time we saw 3 go arounds back to back (not sure if they were due to weather or runway conditions), I can understand their excitement.
Go_Loud762@reddit
I wonder if they even know what it means,
Maruan-007@reddit (OP)
I think so (?) they are plane spotters
ic_97@reddit
Absolute delight for them i guess. Most folks dont get to see go arounds.
Hardoffel@reddit
I had to keep myself from squealing with glee when we had a C-5 do a go around. Heard the engines spool up and I knew it was coming.
amsync@reddit
How rare is it to experience it as a passenger? I’ve had this happen twice already
smelly-pooper@reddit
Oh no way, r/GoLoud762 is the only true plane spotter
thetiredtypist@reddit
They are also one of the few people who really get the jokes on Rick and Morty, since they mostly go over the heads of simpleton normies!
danit0ba94@reddit
I thought I was the only one that does this, when i see a toga. 😂😂😂 So glad I'm not.
TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA!
WillingnessOk3081@reddit
i'm sorry to have to ask but I don't understand anything about this video. What is toga and what is even being filmed here? Is this some kind of new craft?
Euhn@reddit
Take off/ go around. It's a switch or button that the pilot can press, to "go around" in this case, rejecting the landing and increase throttle. Basically the "F this button"
WillingnessOk3081@reddit
ahhhhh. thank you! I love me a good go around. I thought there was more to the video than that, which believe me is quite enough. The whole scene is gorgeous. I just got confused by the whole crowd there getting in on the action. I thought it was like a display of a new kind of craft or something. in my defense, it's the weekend and I've turned off my brain lol
Zorglubzz@reddit
So many people were watching the planes take off and land, and that was their moment, so they could sing 'Toga Toga'?
Hour_Analyst_7765@reddit
I understand how rare this is for a plane spotter to see, but cheering and woo'ing for it annoys me in so many dimensions.
LUS001@reddit
Imagine enjoying something.
Hour_Analyst_7765@reddit
Enjoying is fine, but not like this.
eternalbuzzard@reddit
You seem fun
Hour_Analyst_7765@reddit
Mweh, sometimes, I just hate american culture

Name one such dimension

The Nth dimension

Why do people just gather round to gawk at planes that arent particularly unique or special? I get it when you have a super unique airport or aircraft or something but people just standing there watching the standard shit confuse me
cjssquared@reddit
Because planes are cool. I live by an airport and used to work at one, every time I see a plane flying I enjoy looking at it. This is just my opinion, but I find joy watching planes fly. Some people like watching golf, but I don’t. To me it’s just a bunch of rich dudes whacking a ball with sticks on land that could be better used, but some people really like golf, and that’s okay.
TheA350-900@reddit
I would really like to know what this guy thinks of formula one. "How could anyone enjoy watching cars go in a circle for hours? They all look the exact same and just have slightly different colours!"
GregMilkedJack@reddit
Don't be rude. I didn't insult you, did I? Comparing it to watching formula 1 is ridiculous. It would be more like standing outside of a car rental lot and recording every Corolla and Explorer leaving the lot.
cjssquared@reddit
Not quite. Most people (at least in the USA) have experience and familiarity with cars. Most of us use them everyday. Planes are a lot more uncommon in people’s everyday lives, and also, are giant engineering marvels that fly. Not everyone will have the ability to watch planes up close, so it’s more novel and special. It is more akin to the racing example. It may be more nascar (a standardized racing series that’s on almost weekly) than F1 (unique cars that makes one race in a bunch of different countries) but a lot of people still haven’t experienced it up close. I would love to go to an event where I can hang out with people, drink, and watch planes come in and out of the airport.
TheA350-900@reddit
You literally said, "Who would watch that shit?" to something I and many others love with a passion. If you find it boring, alright, but calling something that brings an endless amount of joy to many people literally "shit" is just a step too far.
GregMilkedJack@reddit
I suggest you look up the definition of literally, because i absolutely did not say that. I dont find aircraft boring; I'm subscribed to this sub for a reason. I just don't understand why everyday, run of the mill aircraft are interesting enough to go out of the way to watch.
its_all_one_electron@reddit
Do you get upset by bird watchers too? Sometimes people think things are just neat.Â
GregMilkedJack@reddit
Do you get upset any time someone questions you? It sure seems like it.

This is hilarious. Someone do the bar celebration edit
luv2ctheworld@reddit
Wonder what's the reason.
bunbun8@reddit
Aviation nerds are my people.
EccentricGamerCL@reddit
Very fortunate if you’re a plane spotter, very unfortunate if you’re a passenger.
Raw_Venus@reddit
Better than being a skid mark at the end of the runway.
sm3xym3xican@reddit
Meh, it adds maybe another 15 minutes to the flight
PerformerPossible204@reddit
Saw this from a plane at LAX the other night
AdSquare3489@reddit
Nice, two approaches for the price of one!
