Friday night fix

Finally got an exhaust leak taken care of and everything buttoned back up last night. First drive in a while. Even passed a car meet on my test drive afterwards and popped in. Not a bad start to the weekend!

Everybody’s talking about how tight that engine bay looks and after replacing the thermostat (in the valley under the intake manifold 🤨) in my wife’s 2017 3.6L V6 LaCrosse a couple of weeks ago, I’m thinking, ”Look at all that room!”
That is a lot of plumbing though!
Nice to see a 3000GT/Stealth still on the road.

Thing if beauty. B)
Intimidating, but beautiful.

These cars were so ahead of their time. It was like someone at Mitsubishi just said there are no limits on this one haha very cool. Looking at the engine bays with how tight everything is does give me some anxiety though haha

Mitsubishi was really on it in the late 80s and throughout 90s. The Pajero was a comfy, tech-loaded cruiser with fantastic snow and off-road capability. They offered a Pajero Evo which was nasty. The Lancer Evo came to market, solidifying itself as a WRX competitor. The 3000GT VR-4 was loaded to the brim with new, interesting tech we hadn't seen on production sports cars before. The Eclipse was a solid 4 cylinder turbo tuner car. The Starion was ending its production run as a hidden 80s gem with high power 4 cylinder turbo engines and peak 80s tech, like digital dashboards. They threw the VR-4 package on a few other cars too. Not to mention stuff from non-North American markets like the FTO and Legnum.
Their fall off in North America should be studied in business school.

I can't imagine how much of a spaceship these would have been when they arrived in 1990. Quad cam, four valves per cylinder, twin turbocharged, four-wheel drive, rear wheel steering, active aero, pop up headlights. Even oil sprayers pointing up at the undersides of the pistons for cooling, Mitsubishi really went to town on these cars.
Unfortunately the 90s capacitors in the ecus let go of their juices killing the boards so a lot of people end up scrapping them.

It’s been a blast to drive for sure. But yeah just a lot of little things to stay on top of. Knock on wood I haven’t had any issues with the ECU since I’ve owned this one.

It was not a fun fix lol

I was going to buy a dodge stealth when they were new but at the dealer there were over 30 all with the hood up waiting for service and it scared me away. Didn’t know at the time but it must have been some recall.

God bless you for working on this I could never bring myself to it and I've owned evos, same with z32 those engine bays are just nightmare looking

I had an Evo 8 years ago. I thought it was tight in there and then I got this haha. It’s an amazing car, but needs a little extra patience for sure.

Love it! I bought a black vr4 new in 1997. I loved that car.
Had lots of mods. Always had to do sketchy crap with the ecu. I bet doing ecu mods / standalone now it would be so easy.
Looks super clean!
