Why do people think MK is rubbish? Roundabouts? Diverse population?

It's not particularly dense. I know people on this subreddit don't like to admit it, partly as a response to the overwhelming hate for the place from people who've never actually been, but it's really not welcoming to anyone who doesn't own a vehicle.
Having moved here from my old place, I wasn't near the town centre in any way, but I still had an arcade, independent cinema, boxing club and several pubs all within a 30 minute walk. I could do my grocery shopping at a proper shop and not have to walk 30 mins to get to it.
Now? There's a couple of Tesco Expresses near me, with a few convenience stores selling out of date stuff that won't hold through the week, so I can get the basics at least. If I want anything more though, I need to walk 30 mins out. No clothes shopping, no hobby shops. Nothing interesting for ages around, there's a gym within 15 mins walk but that's about it. In all of MK, there's 1 Odeon and 1 Cineworld showing only mainstream movies, and the small indie cinema run at the Gallery, except that's an entire hour's walk from me. There's 2 pubs within proper walking distance, and one's a gastropub you go to on special occasions with your partner so you feel a bit out of place going with a mate after work. All of this wouldn't be so bad if there was good public transport but the number of times the bus has been ridiculously late or decided to not even show up is a bit of a pisstake.
Sure, this place is 'walkable', as in you can definitely walk from one place to another. But it's just not practical that if I want to go spend a day out, it'll be an hour's walk, rely on private company transport or hope public transport doesn't screw me over. It's not anywhere near as bad as people outside of it say, but this sub does have a bit of an issue accepting that it's got its flaws.

Because it doesn't have a traditional centre with 100+ year old buildings. It also doesn't have soul crushing traffic congestion either but apparently that's a bad thing too.

Yes, roundabouts, believe it or not!
Also, boring (apart from the theatres, music venues, water sports, ski slope, ice rink, canal/narrow boats, theme park, Bletchley Park etc) and soulless (due to no real centre, which is about the only criticism which has some merit, though I don't think that makes the whole of MK soulless).
Stealing a football team (years ago and that's hardly the whole city's fault).
Too car centric (have never heard of the red routes, apparently).
Like a huge industrial estate (greenest urban area in England...)
And other things I've tuned out.

I live in Mk and need to say it has everything I need (apart from a top football team)
It is 30 mins away from London, you have a lot of parks and nature available, good places to eat, a good road network (although getting busier every day), so for me that’s what I call food life quality.
And to be honest I’m happy about the hatred thrown at it, I don’t want Mk to become a trendy place full of instagrammers and that stuff

This is typical of people who criticise MK from what they've read or heard without actually having been here. At ekat she admitted she was wrong.
