Wait, 10,000? That's 200 shows a year for 50 years.
So I didn't read the article.... sorry but how is this possible?
ecdc05@reddit
I looked at the collection and I think it spans more like 30 years. It's insane. This guy basically went to a show every day and recorded it.

As someone who went to a lot of Chicago shows in the 90s and 00s, I can vouch that Aadam was at almost all of them.
grateful_john@reddit
Probably also recorded the opening act(s) as well as the headliner. So that’s two shows in one day. Festivals get you multiple shows in one day.
Although I know people who legit went to 200 concerts a year, they tend to not have a wife (they’re all guys) and usually slow down after 8-10 years.

He ended up being such a regular that he would get in free and was well known in the community. Hard to believe the dedication some people have in their hobby. I go from hobby to hobby all the time.

So many long closed Chicago concerts spots. RIP

Found the Fugazi show at Medusa's I was at: https://archive.org/details/ajc02236_fugazi1990-06-14.ajcproject

Was just going to post how happy there were a few older Fugazi shows in this archive.
CucumberParty3388@reddit
AFAIK, Fugazi is the only band that already makes all of their show recordings available.
PistachioGal99@reddit
And only $5 a show!

I’m so thrilled you shared this! Thank you!

This is amazing! Thank you Adam!

If you make use of the Live Music Archive frequently, the app Taper's Section is wonderful for not having to listen via browser or having to download. It's one of my most used apps.

That’s my husband’s friend. He gave us a few the of concert posters from those shows.

If you're still in contact, thank him from us, would you? That's an absolute treasure trove he's offered everybody there.
rudeamy@reddit
I definitely will!

Didn't Pink Floyd release one of this guys recordings from an early 70's show of theirs not all that long ago? I remember reading someone did and I'm pretty sure it was them.
the_answer_is_RUSH@reddit
Oh man they got the Replacements.
grateful_john@reddit
I listen to mostly recordings of live music, I started collecting tapes of the Dead in the early 80s, got into getting other bands, did my own recording and have many friends who are similarly motivated. I have terabytes of lossless audio files of live music. We had all sorts of tricks for getting our stuff into venues. There are a lot of obsessed tapers out there.

Hey Now, my good friend started collecting Dead tapes in 1990 when we were both getting on the bus. He recently set his old stereo system back up, which was very high end for mid 90's and we have been having a great time playing all the old favorites again. We were all at Fare thee Well shows, which admittedly were not the most well received from a musical standpoint, but there's no denying it was an amazing time. Anyway, I am hoping to chase down taper version tapes from Fare thee Well for his 50th birthday coming up, but I have no taper contacts. Happy to pay whatever for them it's just a nostalgia type gift for someone who has most everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated
grateful_john@reddit
I’ve never listened to the Fare Thee Well shows, I have no interest (I don’t I like Trey at all and the band really didn’t rehearse). Poke around some Dead subs and someone can hook you up I’m sure.
stinkyrobot@reddit
This is awesome. Just listened to some Fugazi and Trans Am.
RichardSnoodgrass@reddit
Fuck yeah! Just listened to the Minutemen and Dinosaur Jr.

Someone posted this the other day and I listened to four concerts from Tracy Chapman, The Cure, REM, and The Jesus & Mary Chain. The quality of recordings this guy got is incredible. And it was fun to hear "It's the End of the World As We Know It" before it became ubiquitous. Only part of the crowd shouted "Leonard Bernstein!"

Must clearly articulate all 5 syllables :)

Any copyright issues for the guy?
