I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen as one of the shorts in a Spike & Mike's Sick And Twisted animation festival before MTv decided to add animation to their lineup. My memory is it was the second short on the screen, coming directly after Big House Blues - the Ren And Stimpy intro.
I first saw this in a theater in 1992 at Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation. Both this and a cartoon called Wren and Stimpy were my favorites (Yes, it was Wren). I wasn't surprised when they got shows of their own.
What a blast from the past! Spike and Mike's is a helluva callback! I hadn't thought about it in years. I took a chick on a date and she hated it, almost walked out, lol. I thought most of the films were pretty good.
It was on MTV's Liquid Television by the spring of 93. Goofing on TV ads, the bleak, trash filled Texas landscape and the crude humor of metalheads was spot on.
I love B&B, but the early episodes involving torture and mutilation of animals are so cringey and I believe Mike Judge has expressed regret about it too.
This is even earlier than the first episodes. It was a film festival submission for "Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival." MTV acquired the rights to weird animated short films and released them on a compilation called Liquid Television. The more popular shorts got picked up as a series. This included Beavis and Butthead and Aeon Flux. Mike Judge regrets this particular short and certainly would never make something like it today.
This cartoon was so low-brow quality humor when it first came out. It was simple, yet profoundly smart and original. Beavis and Butthead were so simple.

Me too!!! Portland Oregon! Think No Neck Joe was on right after!

I was in Los Angeles, but that was the one. No Neck Joe and maybe Inbred Jed, or was that another year?

Came here to say this same thing. It was like that first free hit of crack. And, suddenly, my young mind was indeed impressed upon.

No animals were harmed in the making of this cartoon. Except for Beavis.

A historical piece of animation brought to us by the man himself, Mike Judge!

Their smoke on water solo was amazing
