Does anyone think it’s possible? Or will it just be a nightmare/not worth the money?

Can't fit a V8 transverse in a Malibu. Switching to longitudinal would require a saddle tank and driveshaft tunnel.

There’s plenty of FWD V8 motors out there. Lots of pontiacs used em.

The Malibu and the G6 shared a platform which was too narrow to fit the V8. That's why only the G8 and Impala had it.

If you’re going far enough to motor and tranny swap a Malibu I’m sure you’re capable of cutting clearance into the body.

You're underestimating how tiny an LSx is.
LSx will fit in a G6](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/59-7-jpg-1549301544.jpg)

Fwd 5.3 (with a 4t80) would be sorta cool.

This is what I was thinking. SS impala powertrain

Look into the LS4. Its a pain in the ass and the transmission is worse.
Those transmissions didnt even work at stock power levels.

It would be cooler than selling it for 3k-4k. Or letting it sit. Or maybe I could trade it. Hmmm
No-Locksmith-9377@reddit
You are going to spend 10k swapping it and making it work. Just sell it for that 4k and put 10k into something interesting.

Yes and yes. The question is never "is it possible" when it comes to cars it is just "is it worth it" and the answer here is probably no unless you have some weird deep attachment to the worst chevy Malibu to exist.

Yeah I currently have one just sitting lol if I don’t do something with it I’ll probably just end up selling it. Just weighing my options
smthngeneric@reddit
The only way you make money is if you sell it. I would do that. The other option is throw money at it and have a kind of funny car for no reason that you don't seem attached to all that much. Id sell it.

I follow a guy on instagram who swapped an LS7 into a Chevy Spark. I’m sure the Malibu has enough room to make in work 😂.

Possible in theory? Yes.
Possible without extensive experience in engineering and/or fabrication? Probably not.
