Turn_it_0_n_1_again@reddit
Exactly, there is nothing Indian about this plate.
KillHitlerAgain@reddit
Tbf, it's not like there aren't picky eaters in India. I've heard of people in India who only eat plain yogurt and white rice for every meal. But serving this to someone who didn't specifically ask for this? That's cruel.
Unable-Candle@reddit
What do you mean? Indians eat rice, chicken, and bread. How much more authentic can you get????
Ok-Inflation-4597@reddit
I know this must be sarcasm but damn the ragebait almost got me

Yeah, I was under the impression that the carbs are there as a vehicle/body for the more flavourful side dishes? Are you sure there are no communal side dishes on a table somewhere? This would be food herasy in most Asian cuisines.

There are done unseasoned chicken but is out so bland that it blends into the white bread…

Doesn't look like Indian dish. Where's the curry and side dish foods. This looks bland and nobody would believe it's Indian dish.
Doctor_Saved@reddit
There's literally no spice of any kind on here. This is close to British food than Indian food.
_Notebook_@reddit
Normally I’d pile on about tasteless British food, but the single flavorful food they have is Indian. Invented curry powder and tika masala is (arguably) their national dish.
Aegis_Of_Nox@reddit
I grow tired of british food slander. Everything they eat is super savory and covered in brown gravy. A nice sunday roast with potatoes, carrots and gravy I will gladly inhale
AltruisticSalamander@reddit
Agree it's nonsense. Even the reviled beans on toast is actually good if you try it.
AlternativeAd1984@reddit
Beans on toast is a snack lunch if you’ve go nothing else in or can’t be bothered cooking. We do eat other foods…
danabrey@reddit
It seems some Americans think that actual adults eat beans on toast for dinner every day - to those people I say, how annoying is it when foreigners think you eat hotdogs for dinner every day?
_Notebook_@reddit
Uh, not annoying at all. People can think whatever they’d like on Reddit. 😂
danabrey@reddit
It's generally better to think things that are true, though.
Aegis_Of_Nox@reddit
In regards to beans on toast I prefer the southern American version - beans on cornbread with shocking amounts of butter and pork fat
PrisonerV@reddit
White beans/smoked ham hocks (or smoked turkey necks) with corn bread is amazing.
Riaayo@reddit
The Brits pillaged the world for spices and then refused to use them so it's funny to dog on them, but also British food is stereotypical shit because it's all post-war stuff from people having to ration / poverty food / people who grew up through either and maintain those as comfort foods. And that's something I'm far less keen to actually make fun of.
HasNoGreeting@reddit
For some reason, That Sort of Americans are incapable of believing things can be flavourful without use of chilli. Apparently herbs don't count.
I would like to give these types a spoonful of Coleman's and see what they do with it.
AreYouAllFrogs@reddit
Yeah, British cuisine might not be the most interesting, but it is incredibly comforting.
_Notebook_@reddit
My British wife grows tired of it as well. 😎
LexGonGiveItToYa@reddit
My issue with British food slander is that it's not even the worst by European standards. Scandinavia is right bloody there!!!
Aegis_Of_Nox@reddit
Reindeer stew with some lingenberry jam on the side though 😋
HirsuteHacker@reddit
Even the non-Indian British food is incredibly flavourful, you know this right?
_Notebook_@reddit
Look, married to a lovely English woman and I’m across the pond all the time. I’ve never met a Brit who agrees and I’ve never met a non-Brit who doesn’t know exactly what I’m talking about.
Tell you what, you can make fun of me/Americans for liking Taco Bell or something.
HirsuteHacker@reddit
Nah, I don't believe you. Literally all the foreigners I know over here love the food. You don't know what you're talking about.
_Notebook_@reddit
And that’s that! 😂
OnlyOneWithFreeWill@reddit
I think that only supports the idea of British food being tasteless. They had to take inspiration from India to make the national dish of tikka masala. Sheperds pie and fish and chips didn't even get the honor of national dish.
Aegis_Of_Nox@reddit
Have you ever had shepherds pie? Its delicious and full of flavor
Shlocktroffit@reddit
Only when it's made with real shepherds
Aegis_Of_Nox@reddit
Of course! Nothing else will do
Fresh_Time2022@reddit
Americans still trying to comprehend that spicy curry is literally Britain's national dish.
FoundationSmooth9777@reddit
American and British food are both so mid lol, so Britain stole some foods and claimed it as their own ? Why am I not surprised
Fresh_Time2022@reddit
Saying the Brits 'stole' their food when it was specifically developed in Britain with their local ingredients to match their local taste (which surprise! Was extremely spicy).
Moron.
canman7373@reddit
Wait isn't India famous for using no spices, seasoning, sauce? They didn't have much of Europe go to war to fight for those spices did they? Venice never hid their connections to those spices right? Sounds correct, India, known for bland food.
perpulpeepuleeter@reddit
Not even salt and pepper ☹️
rsmtirish@reddit

I've volunteered at food kitchens a few times (I think all except one was the same place) and the food we served was really good. Basically everyone in the church made a ton of meat loafs, so it was really tough not getting in line. There was usually some left at the end and it was always delicious. I'm not saying every day was like that since a bunch of churches took turns there, but at least our day was good (even if I sometimes heard people complaining in line that they have meatloaf really often).

Hi, I'm the Indian in the room
relentless_fuckery@reddit
Indians may have cooked this meal but this is not Indian food. 😂
LilArtsyCreature@reddit
If someone who was Indian cooked this meal and served it to me I would presume I had done something to really fuck up somewhere because this is the kind of meal you serve to the people who pissed you off and you're mad at(especially white people lol) Like that is the whitest, not even in terms of color but in culinary- dish I have ever seen. This almost feels like hostile brutalist architecture but in food form. I think this is a case of "I have never eaten this cusine in my life, surely if I put bread, chicken, and rice together that's close enough right? Sounds fancy and enough anyway. Seasonings? Good texture? The devil's work, clearly" Where's some good ol Lutfisk to get out of this situation like that one King of the Hill episode? (I think Bobby accidentally stinkbombs Hank's church trying lutfisk)
relentless_fuckery@reddit
This looks like something my non-cooking ass Punjabi ex would have made when he was really trying. 😂

I'm pretty sure putting tomato sauce on the chicken would make it more Indian than that abomination.
