Takeshi's Castle was also shown in the UK, by the way. Not re-dubbed like MXC exactly, but with English commentary on the games. It was pretty satirical, but it was actually commenting on what was happening in the games!

To be clear, MXC took the video of Takeshi's Castle and then had different audio playing - it was a comedic script. Changing the names of the people, making them say silly things and having different "Themes" each episode. So it wasn't a straight up re-airing of the original show.

Right, and many people who watched it had no idea what was actually going on. It was often on in my dorm lobby and there would be people watching it who were laughing at the nonsense like someone's job being applying pasties to strippers, nobody had any idea what the game actually was. MXC used footage from Takeshi Castle, but was not at all just an english translation of it. They combined clips from multiple episodes to create their own version, and the voice over wasn’t a translation, but rather 2 stoner guys ripping off jokes. Was hilarious, but was also 2000s Spike TV so almost certainly some jokes in there that haven’t aged well.
