Zipline

Has anybody here used Zipline drone food delivery? Great service but damn twice now food has arrived missing. Can’t really do anything on the app help page, it just get an error message. Anyways rant over
shwampchicken@reddit
People need to stop normalizing this nonsense
OutbytheRoot@reddit
There are people who live near the sites these drones take off from who now have constant buzzing over their homes. It’s an annoyance, and it will just get worse.
I can’t stand these things flying over my home. I’ve had one hover in my backyard, about 3 feet over my fence line, and it terrified my dog and startled me. It was abrupt and loud and I use my backyard to try and get some peace.
I understand some think it’s cool and fun, but respectfully, it’s dumb.

I've got a Walmart near my work where drone deliveries fly over my parking lot on the regular. I'd be annoyed if I lived there and heard it all the time.

Skeet is a fun sport. They should learn it.

Having the FAA crawl up their ass, however, is not quite as fun.
thewontondisregard@reddit
I live on a flight path. One afternoon I counted 18, including a foursome that almost crashed.
We are moving. It is too loud.
playballer@reddit
When Amazon made that first drone delivery commercial years ago the first thing I said was it’s going to be way too loud. Not many people had even seen a drone back then so it looked cool on tv i guess. It’s sad nobody had the sense to prevent this from causing a nuisance, seems like such an obvious issue to anyone that’s been near a drone.
Also, please don’t move. Grab a pellet gun instead. You can even program it to be a turret gun pretty easy
majora2007@reddit
Yeah I live on a flight path as well, extremely annoying.
OutbytheRoot@reddit

Yes, it’s extremely annoying.
majora2007@reddit
Thanks for the site. I wasn't aware they also record audio in addition to camera. You know that data isn't being deleted and used for further training.
OutbytheRoot@reddit
Can you join this conversation? You shouldn’t have to move.

You shouldn’t have to move. This makes me so upset. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.
AtmosphereThat9764@reddit
Are you sure is not another company?
thewontondisregard@reddit
It is multiple companies, mainly the big ass Amazon ones. They are all annoying and completely unnecessary.
OutbytheRoot@reddit

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this.

New noisy normal. What a world we live in!
nickbahhh@reddit
It's honestly not very noisy, the drone stays pretty high up, then the fan on the capsule just has a single fan for when it's windy.
OutbytheRoot@reddit
This isn’t the case for a lot of people. They are noisy, especially for those living near launch sites. The Amazon drones are worse. Please don’t help normalize this.

Evilsushione@reddit
I’m not against drones but we should make them use quiet configurations so they done bother people
AlphonseLoeher@reddit
Bunch of testimony from HOAs, immediate dismissal
Zennixx1@reddit
Always something to complain about! I doubt many people even spend enough time on their porch or outside to even notice a difference. Shoot, many houses nowadays don’t even have porches.
10Core56@reddit
Oh yay, more noise pollution and fewer jobs for people, what is not to like about this new capitalism?
AlphonseLoeher@reddit
Noise pollution is a valid concern. But nobody should be driving delivery food. That should shouldn't exist, especially if they are using gas powered cars to do it
Zennixx1@reddit
Oh my goodness you’re unbearable, I wonder what you’ll complain about tomorrow, the next day, and the next
10Core56@reddit
You need a tissue?
Zennixx1@reddit
I can let you borrow some because you’re the one crying about a robot that barely makes any noise 😭
OutbytheRoot@reddit
I notice.
Zennixx1@reddit
Don’t act like you hang outside your house that often
Other-Grapefruit-880@reddit
Imagine being an Iran/Ukraine War Veteran and hearing this noise when you order food.
Kanarakettii@reddit
It's gonna be like the Fourth but year round. Fun.
msitarzewski@reddit
Love it. I don't have the service in The Cedars yet! Can't wait.
OutbytheRoot@reddit
Well, tell them to put the flight paths over your home. Other people find this crap annoying. Just go to the store, the drones can’t even carry much, unless you’re looking forward to larger, louder drones. Heck, let’s make them the size of helicopters, so they can drop off larger loads. That sounds awesome! I can’t wait to hear it.
msitarzewski@reddit
Happy to have it… have a great day.
OutbytheRoot@reddit
I hope you have a good one too, and I mean that. I also want to have a good day, and so do others, and this drone nonsense really has a negative impact on people.
I just wish more people could take others into consideration. The despair this is causing some people outweighs the convenience of small items being dropped off to your house from the sky.
msitarzewski@reddit
We don't know each other, as is usually the case on Reddit, but "wish more people could take others into consideration" carries with it a lot of assumptions. For example, it leaves no room for the mobility impaired who can't just drive to a store to get meds and other small goods when needed. Anyway, I sincerely meant it too. Have s great day. :)
5x4j7h3@reddit
Prob not gonna happen due to the restricted airspace. Which is probably a good thing.
msitarzewski@reddit
Nope. They’ve run several tests in my backyard. Just a matter of time!
TrynnaFindaBalance@reddit
Holy fuck this would piss me off if you were my neighbor.
Remarkable_Meat666@reddit
I haven’t seen Zipline, but Wing is in my area operating on behalf of Walmart. Every once in a while I’ll see a drone taking off from / returning to their depot, but it doesn’t seem like people are using it all that much. Aside from getting medicine or something if you’re in a pinch, I really don’t know what would be worth the trouble to get from Walmart that meets the size and weight requirements.
heyteej@reddit
Have this in Princeton. They just changed free delivery to free delivery over $10, so now I have to get like 4 snickers at a time instead of just the one.
minomserc@reddit
Why cat you go to the store?
heyteej@reddit
Because I dont want to wait in line for 4 snickers bars
OutbytheRoot@reddit
Your laziness is annoying.
heyteej@reddit
No way, im 4 snickers bars more efficient by not waiting in line
No-Discipline-5822@reddit
Maybe they don’t have a car (US isn’t very walkable)
MusicalAutist@reddit
No thanks. People need jobs. I don't need food this badly.
No-Discipline-5822@reddit
Do they need or want food delivery jobs? They’re exploitative and they complain a ton about them. I’d rather drive a drone or support a robot than schlep fries across town with these gas prices.
minomserc@reddit
Dude just go to the store
mediceman33@reddit
FAFO, it’s probably in its experimental phase. 🤷♂️
AtmosphereThat9764@reddit
They have quiet a few Walmarts around Dfw
Top-Offer-4056@reddit (OP)
It is, I’m just lucky they’re testing it in my area
Fun_Departure_3013@reddit
Give it time…..you will be able to get your weed delivered in fifteen minutes or it’s free.
UraniumRocker@reddit
It's pretty neat when I see them taking off from my local walmart. I used to think they just dropped the package with a parachute, until I saw another video of how the zipline drones work.
HorseCockExpress6969@reddit
Your dildo has arrived sir.
Willtexas1@reddit
That was a lot smaller than I thought
POINTLESSUSERNAME000@reddit
I'm going to tell my kids that this is where babies come from.
brewtus007@reddit
"It's the darndest thing kids. The little bed gets lowered down to the ground, then you go open it. If you're lucky enough, a leprechaun jumps out, takes mommy to pound town, and 9 months later, there you are, shooting out her cooch like Lucky Charms out of a box."
gringottsbanker@reddit
Yep. Storks were for the last century. Modern baby delivery requires modern solutions.
DCJustSomeone@reddit
Why is this cracking me up
swamp_donkey89@reddit
Because of the old tire in the yard being used as a flower pot?
DCJustSomeone@reddit
My dad didn’t same when I was younger lol
assholy_than_thou@reddit
What happens if you cTch and hold that line?
gmatocha@reddit
I'm betting it can jettison it, leave, save the video and automatically attach it to a police report. (Ok the last one is an exaggeration, but the first three aren't.)
oakcliffian@reddit
Was this in proper Dallas?
Top-Offer-4056@reddit (OP)
Rowlett
tractorpatty@reddit
What happens it it drops your order on a fresh pile of dog shit?
Top-Offer-4056@reddit (OP)
Drop zone is designated, I’ve order probably 10 times now and it’s pretty consistent with the drop. To answer your question, I’ll be sol since the app is buggy
tractorpatty@reddit
Thanks, didn't realize you get to pick the DZ
Scrantonicity_02@reddit
That would be a shitty situation
Zennixx1@reddit
We have have this in Anna since November. Let’s just say… I use it very often. No tips or extra fees included, it’s great.
RaySorian@reddit
I was expecting it to land in the flowers!
We have them for Walmart small deliveries.
avfcfan1212@reddit
Looks like some call of duty care packages coming in.
sacandbaby@reddit
That is cool.
