What is the appeal of very loud cars?

I am a car enjoyer. 'Loud' is not the appeal. those idiots you get flying down your local A road in a bashed up corsa/clio are just wankers. They know sod all and either don't realise how stupid they sound, or do and don't care. All the power to them, but it is stupid. 'Nice' is the appeal. Old Mustangs, Aston Martins, Jaguars, McLarens. A lot of the customised cars in Japan tend to sound really nice. A well tuned car often isn't loud, it is powerful. you feel the power when it drives by. They are naturally louder, they are not sat at 5000rpm all the time. That is usually why the sound isnt half as irritating. Modding a car as a younger, newer driver in the UK is VERY expensive and the insurance is insane, so the things that need doing to stop the 1.2l engine to not sound like shit (I mean they will struggle with a 1.2 anyway, but money doesn't grow on trees and some youtuber will have said it is the turbo that matters), they cannot afford to get, be it the parts that cost hundreds, or the insurance that will go up by hundreds and probably not go down becasue, more often than not, they drive like fools. I passed 4 months ago and they already wind me up. There are plenty of tracks up and down the country you can go to in order to drive fast and race your friends. You drive like you have no insurance anyway, so if your insurance doesn't cover track damage just don't hit anything. It'll be reight.
