I gotta do what I gotta do to save on high costing fuel, but I’ll sit here and clog up a highways left lane to not let a mega pass me. Megas need to learn their place, and stay in that right lane, behind me. Lower your cruise control!!!
Beautiful-Slice166@reddit
Ive done the math on this, slowing down 2 mph for 2 mins costs you something like 300 odd feet like...if that makes you late homies you was already late lmao its why i dont get the super aggressive never getting off your cruise shit. Ive done way too many 1 moh or 2 mph passes, luckily i drive nights so normally im not inconveniencing anyone

Make way I guess.

I can go 72 but it puts me neck and neck with everyone limited to 68-70. If I can pass safely and quickly or not block up traffic then I will but if I’m in a heavy traffic area I’ll just bite the bullet and go 68-70.

Man I got all that shit out of my system the first couple times driving ungoverned trucks, now I truly could not give a shit less. The result of all the passing games can be wiped out by a couple red lights.
Just pick your speed, leave a decent enough gap and enjoy a good podcast or what not. You’ll go home in a better mood.

Isn’t it? Aggravates me to no end

Indubitably

I don't mind if I get passed by mega. I'm actually pretty impressed when I get passed by anybody since I'm ungoverned.

I’ve been passed at 2am by a Pete pulling a flat bed. Once he got over, the freightliner dash told me he was doing 102. Likely with tires rated at 86 mph.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
I hardly get passed, but when I do, it’s usually a bullhauler. I’m ungoverned as well , but 80mph where speed limit permits, but typically cruise control at 73

😂😂😂😂so basically never. Hey me too. Back a few years I was in the desert going like 82 somewhere out in az desert. Some Mexican guy passes me up a hill and I start to pass him as soon as I get out. He has to pass me again when the next hill came, but I start to accelerate when the hill flattened out. I saw him in the rear mirror gaining on me so I went all the way up to 86-87. Idk how fast he was going , but he blew my doors off. I humbly conceded and offered him my crown as king of the road

You're gonna hate me today. I've made it my whole job to get in front of left lane trucks and drop my speed by 1mph until they move back over.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂my man!

Honestly, I think 62-65 is key. You don’t pass many people and can just set it and forget it. I’m a route driver so time is always a crunch. I can do 68 and sometimes it’s very frustrating doing .5-1moh faster than someone.

This is it! Megas are notoriously under powered. underpowered is the bigger issue. I’m just going to pass you at the next hill. Just stay behind me!!!
BigSchmitty@reddit
I have a ‘22 Freightliner day cab, it’s got the Detroit D12. The sticker says 405hp but it’s a dog hauling an empty 53’ reefer up a hill. I’ll go from 68 down to the mid 50s. When loaded, sometimes into the 40s in the right lane with the flashers on.
Lucius_Furius@reddit
Where do the US standard measures horsepower, wheel or crankshaft?
BigSchmitty@reddit
Typically at the crank, unless otherwise stated.
Lucius_Furius@reddit
That’s really shitty then. In Europe Volvo measures at the tyre. I have a 420 hp model but usually carry light stuff. The rare times when I need to carry full load (44 metric tons gross) it is not fun.
BigSchmitty@reddit
I agree. Most large US companies opt for the cheaper optioned trucks. Plus smaller engines means less fuel (sometimes). With a day cab and 53’ reefer I’m about 35k lbs (~16k kilos) empty. With my heaviest load I’m near gross at 79k lbs (36k kilos) and she’s slow. Like other trucks honking at me kind of slow. The automated transmissions don’t help.

But yet it was censored as if one couldn’t tell it was a joke. I hate Reddit and the pansies that run it
ExpedientDemise@reddit
Eh.
I pass them on the interstate because I'm governed at 75. We come to a town or a construction zone and I do the speed limit and they pass me doing 65. Once past that I pass them again at 75. Never ending story.

What nationality are you?

Oh no we got a tough guy here
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
Yes sir. Super trucker at yer service
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit (OP)
That’s a big 10/4 driver! It ain’t none of your business I’m doin 64.8. If you try and pass, I’ll kick it up one, leave you piling up the left lane. When you get back in the right lane I’ll resume my speed at 64.8. If you manage to get around me somehow, I’ll just pass you up in a breeze, and ruin your day. The 70 is a long interstate bud. Hope your destination ain’t too far
