What are some things you regret apologising for because it wasn't YOUR mistake to apologise for?

I cringe at the thought of when I apologised for a mistake at work and realised it wasn't my fault for the mistake but because I prematurely apologised I was the owner for it. The mistake was because of the logistics department. my promising overshadowed the person who was at fault.

In every kind of charity / beggar / whatever encounter my instinctual response is "sorry mate".
I don't really "regret" it because it's just the easiest way to defuse but what I really want to say is just "no, get your own money".

I worked at McDonald's as a kid and the number of people I'd apologise to because they'd have to wait for food that wasn't ready, why? Sometimes in life you have to wait. I remember getting berated by a man because his chicken premier wasn't ready, they took 6 minutes to cook, I was 16/17 he must have been mid 40's and I apologised. Fuck off, as a 40 year old he was a cunt,

McDonald's is an open kitchen as well, you can clearly see the workers are working their asses off.

The beep. How do you live with the beep?

My form teacher was almost my Chemistry teacher, and for a few valid reasons really disliked me.
One lesson, literally everyone on my row was talking to each other, except me doing my work. He shouted over the whole class, “if mosleyowl doesn’t apologies for talking over me, the whole class will stay behind at break”
Peer pressure got the better of me so I apologised, and am still furious to this day
Screw you Mr Pepper!

I walk out of the lift. Another human is waiting for the lift and we brush past each within half a metre.
I apologise.
