All-new Porsche 911 GT3 Sport Cabriolet leaked images
Looks pretty good in my opinion. I just wish it had the GT3 wing as well.
What are your thoughts?
Crftd@reddit
Looks good but the silhouette doesn’t capture the same essence as a true Speedster.
gaius49@reddit
The silhouette looks nothing like a speedster, though Porsche hasn't made a true speedster in 60 or 70 years.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
I was never really a fan of the cabriolet 911s & think they all just look like they got a BBL, but at least the wide turbo body kinda evens it out, the narrowbody imo suits it even less, & then I'm still not a fan of the GT3 mustache
I'm sure it will be a fantastic car to hear & drive just like the critically acclaimed 991 speedster but I wouldn't want to own one, especially over a Spyder or RS Spyder
TreesACrowd@reddit
I'm an unabashed Porsche fanboy with my money where my mouth is, yet I think 911 Cabrios of any generation are some of the ugliest sports cars on the road. Giving that treatment to a GT3 is making my eyes roll allll the way back in my head.
MaraudingWalrus@reddit
I think for usability whatever this new car is would be exponentially more livable, though admittedly far less cool, than an RS Spyder
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Yeah forgot the order isn't inter changeable lol
RobertM525@reddit
Same. The last good looking GT3 was the 991.2. That thing looked amazing. Neither of the 992 GT3s have been very attractive. I think they could really stand to tone down the aero-focused design of the regular GT3 and leave the ugly but functional craziness to the GT3 RS. Especially on the Touring models of the GT3.
assblast420@reddit
It's weird how the 911 cabrio is shaped considering how good looking the Boxster GT4 RS looks.
junaidnk@reddit
Nissan Murano levels of bbl
throw_me_away3478@reddit
Isnt the gt3 track focused? Why are they making convertible track cars?
gaius49@reddit
"GT3" is just a trim level at this point.
adrr@reddit
Weird having a track designed car as a convertible.
gaius49@reddit
At this point "GT3" is a trim level to drive up pricing.
willpc14@reddit
I think it's being introduced for the NA engine, manual, back seats, and a convertible, not necessarily track use.
VitoXzX@reddit
This probably will be more like a GT3 touring, focused on the road
KSoMA@reddit
The M3 has had a convertible since the E30 and that gen was almost literally a street-legal version of a race car.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
It has already been a thing after Ferrari, McLaren, and even Chevy Corvette offer their track car with convertible variety.
Docist@reddit
It’s a track car not a race car. The convertible aspect isn’t holding back 99.99% of owners, their talent is.
adrr@reddit
You can’t track a convertible unless you put in roll cage. Many s2000 owners found this out.
CallLivesMatter@reddit
This depends on the convertible in question and which track you’re talking about.
Docist@reddit
S2000 doesn’t have proper anti roll protection, maybe some later models have hoops but they’re not so great. Most cars have had proper antiroll protection in the last 20 years and they’re allowed on tracks.
peaked-at-7@reddit
I guarantee this will be like the 718 Spyder RS and be tuned for the road more than track.
assblast420@reddit
Definitely, this is a lifestyle car more than anything. Just like the regular GT3 has arguably become in recent years.
And by that I don't mean it's become any less capable, but the group of people who buy it are no longer track-focused drivers. Sort of like the people who buy Lamborghinis.
time_to_reset@reddit
Now do a Targa. The best roof option.
turb0_encapsulator@reddit
I think they should have made a Speedster style car instead.
gluten_heimer@reddit
Is that not exactly what this is?
turb0_encapsulator@reddit
No, the Speedsters models typically have some big styling changes: a lowered windshield, and a double-bubble soft-top cover that removes the rear seats.
VitoXzX@reddit
They’ll probably do a speedster and it will be a special/limited edition
turb0_encapsulator@reddit
true. probably even more expensive and exclusive than this.
Imtherealwaffle@reddit
good looking car. i always thought thr cab looked a bit better than the speedster body style.
oidoglr@reddit
They were just talking about these on the most recent episode of Spike’s Car Radio.
Slice5755@reddit (OP)
The bluechew advert on the latest episode had me rolling on the floor laughing.
Milksteak_Sandwich@reddit
I would way prefer a targa with GT3 performance
humdizzle@reddit
911 convertibles just look weird to me.
SonnyG696@reddit
911 speedster is the most incredible thing but Porsche just wants to churn out whatever the fuck hunchback the regular cabrio is
CallLivesMatter@reddit
The 997 Turbo is the only 911 Cab that I’ve ever looked at and thought ‘ok yeah that looks pretty great’. The rest of them don’t stir any level of desire from me.
KingAwesome467@reddit
Oh wow, what a surprise, truly revolutionary, I couldn’t have possibly imagined what it would’ve looked like before.
SonnyG696@reddit
Forreal did we really need “leaks”? Is brainrot so real that we couldn’t expect Porsches every next move?
Egg_Tart_Eater@reddit
Best we can do is raise prices.
burger_saga@reddit
Thats it boys, they’ve officially reached the end of what they can do with the 911.
mr_lab_rat@reddit
Who exactly is this for?
To be honest I’ve lost interest in most Porsches.
Back in the ‘90s I dreamed about owning a 964 or 993. Buying a used one was pretty much within reach.
But then they made the 996 and I didn’t like that. By the time they fixed it, both the old ones and the new ones got so ridiculously expensive that it’s just not worth it.
The Cayman looked promising but it was just too impractical.
I ended up with an M2 and I’m happy.
costafilh0@reddit
I hate how the rear looks like a fat ass instead of the amazing 911 profile, only ob the cabriolet, because of the idiotic rear engine.
Still wouldn't care. Just get a darker color to make it look smaller, a d you still have a MT GT3 Convertible, and it is well worth it!
Does this mean they are making a 718RS Spyder with a MT as well?
We can hope!
Real_Establishment56@reddit
If you wanna go fast in a convertible 911 just buy a Turbo S, it has more HP too
I_love_quiche@reddit
Looks like Porsche released a model specifically for the Lifestyle types. GT3s are track cars, which convertibles aren’t.
CallLivesMatter@reddit
The buyer for this is “I want that motor no matter what it costs, also I want a convertible, but also not the 718 Spyder RS because I want a manual.” That seems like a narrow audience, but they’ll still sell every single one they make.
18voltbattery@reddit
Gonna sell like hotcakes in Miami and Palm Beach
MrKuub@reddit
I bet Porsche’s problems melt like ice in the sun with this.
“This” being what seems like the billionth special edition 911 variant. What’s the starting price on one of these, 275k?.
reward72@reddit
I like the idea, but never liked the back of the 911 cabriolet. I'd rather have a Boxster Spyder RS.
TS040@reddit
I mean it’s really cool but at the same time idk what this offers over something like an RS Spyder
spiketeam@reddit
A manual.
TS040@reddit
damn I completely forgot the Spyder was PDK only lol
Short-Display-1659@reddit
I think it is pretty as is.
I think it would be kinda ugly if it had the regular giant gt3 wing when topless.
BruisendTablet@reddit
A GT3 thing is the last thing this car needs.
3dmontdant3s@reddit
Woooow a 911 cabriolet !
dreaminphp@reddit
baby porsche what is u doin
spiketeam@reddit
Wonder what this for Spyder RS prices. Especially since I presume these will come with a manual.
The_Squidsticks@reddit
Yup, that sure is a 911.
argent_pixel@reddit
Okay.
ManualConnoisseur@reddit
Looks better than expected, I like how they used the open front fenders from the S/T. Curious if they are carbon as well?
PabloIceCreamBar@reddit
Neat.
