Will I pass my Cat 1 Medical with a small amount of thc?

I am trying to pass my Cat 1 medical exam. I used to use thc frequently before but I quit. I have been 4 weeks clean with no issue, but these at home urine tests still show positive for me. Will my doctor fail me with trace amounts in my system even though i’m a month clean?
BagOfMoneyNoChange@reddit
Yes, you will be denied a medical because you can't answer no to this question on the application.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
Marijuana isn’t illegal here in Canada.
BagOfMoneyNoChange@reddit
It helps to tell people what country you live in if you want relevant advice.
kaoandy1125@reddit
OP literally had a “Canada” flair like, right up top, no?
BagOfMoneyNoChange@reddit
Can't see it on mobile.
jet-setting@reddit
I see it on mobile just fine.
mrimp13@reddit
Don't see that on mobile.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
I put the Canada tag as the flair, thought that meant where i am from
massunderestmated@reddit
You should probably specify Canada in your post. People here for the most part assume USA/FAA unless otherwise noted, for better or worse. Side effect of Reddit being a mostly US website. I have no idea what Canadian regulations are like, and I suspect you'll get more uninformed answers than informed ones unless you clarify.
akidwhocantreadgood@reddit
This post is literally has a “Canada” tag on it already.
massunderestmated@reddit
I understand that, but tags like that tend to blend into the background when compared to the enormous noise of the modern online experience. Also, was that tag there when it was first posted? I'm not entirely sure it was, because I don't recall seeing that purple bubble when I commented, that I do in fact see now.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
was always there
massunderestmated@reddit
Ok. It did not show up on my screen when I first read your post.
dumbassretail@reddit
“It blends into the background. Maybe it wasn’t there before. Ok it was but not on my screen”.
Dude, you just didn’t see it. It’s OK, nobody cares.
massunderestmated@reddit
Somebody cares. People keep hitting the downvote button like children that forgot how to use their words.
dumbassretail@reddit
It’s because you’re defending the indefensible. Just take the L.
massunderestmated@reddit
I got 5 downvotes on my first comment, trying to be helpful. Y'all have sticks wedged up a little too high.
akidwhocantreadgood@reddit
I did use my words. You reacted defensively like a child, hence the downvotes
kaoandy1125@reddit
Do you guys not read or what? Literally says “Canada” up top
vivalicious16@reddit
Okay but that doesn’t matter when you’re dealing with TCCA
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
thank u for clearing this up instead of downvoting, i am just in the early stages of setting up my career
vivalicious16@reddit
Then stop smoking marijuana if you want to get anywhere lol.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
i mean, i said that. I’m 4 weeks clean. My exam is in 4 weeks now.
dumbassretail@reddit
He already did, he said that in the OP.
JudsonCc@reddit
Unfortunately, your medical is issued by a federal agency
Mercury4stroke@reddit
No you won’t pass it. Marijuana isn’t illegal in Canada but it can’t be in your system at all when acting as flight crew. That extends to the medical as well. I would advise you to wait until it disappears. How long do you have until this medical?
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
thank u for an actual normal answer instead of just downvoting me. I rescheduled my exam for 4 weeks, so i would be around 2 months of no THC.
CryOfTheWind@reddit
Another thing to note that just because it is legal and we have the 28 days toke to yoke rule doesn't mean you're auto cleared for having smoked in the past either.
My CAME has mentioned that many people over volunteer information about how much they have smoked in the past even if they have since stopped. Depending what you say that could be consider equal to admitting to having been an alcoholic and will still get your medical denied in a similar way.
They don't publish any information about what is "too much" but there is a line and if you crossed it and admit to it then you may still have medical troubles.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
ok good to know thank you, i’ll be extra careful
Ckflyer13@reddit
You’ll be fine. Not sure how Canada does it but I would say most AMEs don’t drug test. You will also be hard pressed to find someone who has been 100% honest 100% of the time on their medical (not saying I’ve ever told a fib, but..). Just be aware of the amount of money you’d be throwing away if you get caught, assuming you plan to make a career out of it. The THC rules are dumb, but is what it is for now. Upvoted the valid question to counter the boomer downvotes
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
yea i think these boomers think weed is like Meth and i can’t function at all. Idc about the downvotes, just hear for informative info. So thank u.
massunderestmated@reddit
I'm no square about it, but as long as it's a prohibited substance that stays in your system for weeks at a time, I don't care whether it should be allowed or not. You'd have to be really dumb to invest all your time and money into building something and risk losing all of it for something like weed. It's just not worth it.
And then, part of me thinks there's a greater responsibility than "Can I function or not?" It's "Can I function at my best capacity?" Having not touched the stuff in a couple of years, my day to day capacity feels about 50% sharper than when I used to partake. Actually, if we were being honest about it, amphetamines like meth would probably *enhance* performance, if not for that pesky crippling addiction part, unlike dopey drugs like THC.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
i meant more so the fact people can’t function without it. I had no issue full stopping weed. I have no lingering effects or withdrawal.
massunderestmated@reddit
Yeah, just be careful about who you hang out with and psychological triggers that make you want to relapse back into casual use. The human brain is funny that way sometimes. Good luck!
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
all my friends smoke, even when i was coming off it they would go outside and I never felt inclined to relapse.
massunderestmated@reddit
You're 4 weeks in to a lifetime of being a former frequent smoker. That's literally nothing. It hasn't even cleared your bloodstream yet, which means you smoked A LOT. Like you said, all your friends smoke. Both statistics and life experience leads me to say be careful and be strong. Time can play tricks on you. I'm on your side pal.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
i’m only 27, i only started frequent use in the last ~4 years. But yes I am strong minded so I don’t think i’ll go back
massunderestmated@reddit
So, for 45% of your adult life, you were a heavy drug user. I hear your conviction, but you should be realistic about it. If you don't surround yourself with people who don't get high all the time, you're extremely likely to fall back into the habit.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
they are casual, my friends are all engineers and medical doctors
massunderestmated@reddit
The fact that you're still failing piss tests after 4 weeks means you were not casual.
Ckflyer13@reddit
Sure thing. Goodluck. To be fair, I used feel the same way thy feel to an extent, just how I was taught growing up. Then I got the airlines and see the amount of people downing drinks up to the legal limit. Apparently that’s okay, but having a gummy to chill on your days off isn’t? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Apparently Canada is a lot more lenient on it than the US. Not sure exactly the laws but you’ll be good, as long as you’re smart about it.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
yea, i’d say drinking has a more of a lingering effect than weed the next day, the laws are just odd right now.
Mercury4stroke@reddit
You should be fine in that case then. And ya I don’t understand the downvote spam for wanting extra information. You’re right to ask if you don’t know.
As you probably already know, just stay off of it from here on out. Even if the effects are long gone 12 hours later, it’s still in your system and that’s enough for serious issues if you ever get caught.
Tvirusinhaler@reddit (OP)
thank u, yea i dont plan on returning to smoke anymore as I shifted my focus to this career path.
Mercury4stroke@reddit
Good choice brother 💪🏻. A THC buzz isn’t worth putting your career on the line. Good luck with it all!
