On a mission setting off stinkbombs at work on the sly, A complaint has been filed, we haven’t been physically caught doing it but could we face disciplinary if we have been named?

So my pal an I have been setting off stink bombs as a minor inconvenience to people at work. We’ve had a great laugh doing it, when we set the first few off some people were convinced it was a gas leak. So there was directors and health and safety guys coming around the building sniffing around trying to sniff out the gas leak, which for me and my pal was fucking hilarious watching this unfold.
So as you can imagine the next day we set some more off with the same results but this time they had the maintenance guy brush washing up liquid on the gas pipes. Obviously when he couldn’t find any leaks they had him search around the buildings for dead animals.
So since there was no dead animals they were stumped we carried on every few days doing more. As they couldn’t pin point what was the cause there was rumours that the sewage network couldn’t cope as round by our work there have been multiple housing developments which is plausible I guess, but this just made it even funnier for us.
Also we have been blaming a guy for farting and he was the one making the stinky stinks lol. So whenever we could set one off by where he worked we would and this poor bloke was blamed and accused for our own entertainment, we’re probably going to hell for that.
Sorry to drag on but the incident in question is, we thought it would be a good idea to place a couple of the stink bombs under some of matts of a different department. We strategically placed them in high traffic areas where we know they walk along. As expected they set them off and I had an angry supervisor come and accuse us of doing this and we better stop because they’ve had enough now. Bear in mind nobody and I mean nobody has seen us or seen us place any in any place we have been proper secret squirrels.
So after the angry supervisor came and accused us he went crying to a manager accusing us of setting them off,
So obviously my question is could we get disciplinary for this even though there is no actual evidence we have done anything of this??

You're more likely to be terminated since your actions have cost the company money and you have targeted a specific colleague and attempted to shift blame on them.
Aren't you a little old for this?
CrossCityLine@reddit
As there’s a serious replies only flair, please answer the question rather than passing judgement. You risk a ban.
Mr_Bumcrest@reddit
Come on now, you're in a safe space. This didn't happen, did it?

Sounds like the company will be better off without you, such mature behaviour, you must be so proud.

I'd be all for you and your moronic friend getting the sack. People go to work to get stuff done and go home, not to be pranked, especially with something as, in their mind, serious as a gas leak.

Well this is a good way to get CCTV put into a workplace.
No idea what the actual legalities of it are but this sounds like instant dismissal territory to me. Doing it once, maybe a warning, continuing to do it after seeing that, you'd be out if they take health and safety seriously. If they don't think they can legally justify it (unlikely given the health and safety nature of it) then they'll look for other ways, drug testing etc...
That combined with doing it repeatedly might be enough for instant dismissal. I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
Much as I enjoy a bit of office hijinx, this really isn't that. Always know where the line is because you crossed it after the first time.

Id be posting this in the legal advice page as it wouldn't be impossible that you might face some sort of legal action. I dont know what but you have released a noxious substance into the workplace resulting in wasted costs and leaving them open to legal action from anyone allergic or who had a reaction.
Opinelrock@reddit
Yep, you could.
That isn't the real problem here though. The real problem is that both you and your friend are an annoying pair of cunts.
krayzie_bonetm19@reddit
I literally could not have said it any better myself
Ok-Mulberry-4600@reddit
Sorry, do you have a head injury? Why would you do this or think its funny?
You could well face disciplinary especially if you've been trying to frame / embarrass a coworker, thats workplace bullying. They dont necessarily require proof, its an internal disciplinary process so they can set the requirements.
You may also want to check in a legal reddit thread as I would think these actions, especially as you are doing so repeatedly and maliciously, could land you in some legal trouble too.

Someone must have seen you, they wouldn’t just assume it was you for no reason
Crunchie64@reddit
They might assume they knew who it was if every other employee had an IQ above twenty.
scrotalsac69@reddit
If you had stopped after the first time it would likely be seen as a prank. However you just come across as a pair of right arseholes for carrying it on.
Stop now and grow up, but don't be surprised if you get all the shit jobs and will be first to get chopped off the company needs to lose some heads
MrMonkeyman79@reddit
Yes if they're confident enough it was you they can discipline you. This would likely be a sackable offence too.
SomeHSomeE@reddit
I mean they've clearly worked out it's you so they obviously do have some evidence.
A disciplinary isn't a court of law so they don't have to prove it beyond reasonable doubt or meet any sort of court-like evidential requirements so yes they could discipline and probably fire you. They might also seek damages from you if the call outs for gas inspections etc cost money.
As an aside - I didn't realise many workplaces employed 12 year olds.
Sea-Still5427@reddit
Seems unlikely there's no security evidence.
