Apartment recs

I will be coming to SMU law in the fall. I’ve seen lots of apartments recs in here and narrowed it down to the village or the victor which seem to offer two very different lifestyles. The village seems likes a great place to meet young people my age as well as having nice amenities/apartments. Could anybody speak on anything negative or positive about the village/is it rlly that great for meeting new people. The other place I’m looking at is The Victor in victory park. It seems like a true luxury building in the city. Is that area of Dallas walkable with good stores, bars, restaurants etc? or is it more so a manufactured neighborhood that doesn’t have much soul IE navy park in DC if yall r familiar with that area. Thank you for any pointers yall may have and I really appreciate this community for already providing a plethora of apartment info.

I know several people who live in The Victor, and they hate it. It's a luxury building with horrible management. Additionally, you'll be fighting traffic every time there's a basketball game or hocky game or concert, which is multiple nights a week.

Avoid Victory Park if you're going to SMU, full stop. Frankly, I'd tell people working downtown to avoid Victory Park as well. It's a fake neighborhood with constant turnover that isn't as "fun" as it markets itself.
In terms of neighborhoods near SMU law, I'd say there are plenty of options in East Dallas. The obvious choices are going to be Greenville/Lower Greenville, Knox Henderson, and Uptown (in that order for personal preference). All three are close to SMU law, have tons of restaurant/bar options, and are also hubs for young professionals. They also each have homes/rooms for rent in addition to all types of apartments.
The Village is also a great option, and I won't try to dissuade you from living there. Tons of apartment options and available amenities, centrally located, and full of young people. I've heard it said that you can't really call yourself a Dallasite if you've never lived at the Village.
The Village is a great option in terms of variety of options and amenities offered. It's also pretty centrally located, and I have heard it said that you didn't really experience young adulthood in Dallas if you didn't live at the Village.

Awesome, thank you for the in depth advice! This is exactly what I needed

The Village is a great place to be where you are in life, built in social options for you and your friends from SMU.
It won’t provide the walkable urban living and vibrancy of a lux downtown neighborhood though.
If you can afford the Victor there are other options that can be had without having to deal with the traffic and inconvenience of having AAC as your front door. One option which just got new management with super solid reviews is the Atelier in the Arts District and you have a few other options as well.
Feel free to message me as I help mostly friends but sometimes others with apartment locating (and happen to live in the Atelier myself)
