To me there were 4 presenters on TG and TGT
Clarkson, Hammond, May and the chemistry of them all combined forming something even greater than the sum of their individual appeal
10 + 10 + 10 = 40!
I'm always astounded just how talented and smart he is. He beat Gordon Ramsey in a cooking competition, and he did it while drinking. He's extremely methodical too. Even if he was slower around a track, he is given credit by race car drivers for getting extremely consistent lap times.
James takes something that should be absolutely boring (The Reassembler) and turns it into a delightful show to watch. His passion for the craftsmanship just oozes through the screen and is truly contagious.
James has always seemed like the most well rounded person and more down to earth than the other two to me. Seems the most "human" of the three if that makes any sense.
As a trio for the shows though, they are all equally entertaining for me personally.
Clarkson picked the best cars for road trips, or at least cars I would pick. Thats where hammond is my least favorite, he was more likely to pick american cars and I hate american cars
I guess I'm the weirdo who likes Hammond the most. I'm not totally sure why. They all are great and its like a hairs length between hammond and may for me. Both are expert mechanics, crazy knowledge and lots of fun to watch.
Hammond in Vietnam was comedy gold with the boat on the back of his bike
Without Hammon, I don't see Clarkson and May being mates, Jezza lets boring James hang around because he's a mate of the Hamster. May tolerates the loud oath Jeremy because his chum Richard seems to like him, for some unfathomable reason
Jeremy and May have a lot of crossover interests and they're both older than Hammond. Remember, both Clarkson and May were on old Top Gear, whereas Hammond came later. May replaced Clarkson near the end. For the reboot, Clarkson actually specifically recommended May as a presenter, and he would eventually replace Jason Dawe after season 1.
Post TG and GT, they have all done something they are individually passionate about. I find Jeremy's farm the most entertaining, but not necessarily because of Jeremy himself.
They really thrived as a trio, and I can't "vote" on any one of them individually.
Always loved Hammonds optimism. Loves every car and sees the positives in all of them even if they end up constantly breaking down during specials
His involvement in drivetribe keeps the TP/GT alive and his daughter Izzy is doing a great job at keeping that channel going. Seems like a great father as well
I used to have the biggest man crush on Hammond, but I've always preferred May's presenting, especially away from Top Gear/Grand Tour and Clarkson was alright, so I voted for May.
Clarkson is a good showman and his character is amazing but not keen on him outside of the show, Hammond, I'm not so sure, but May is genuinely a good person who feels a lot more genuine in terms of his screen presence. so I'd lean towards May
In the show they are a perfect trio, and I don't think I can pick one. However, based on everything outside of TG and TGT, James May by a country mile. Most entertaining solo presenter, personality and all around seems like the coolest of the three
James May has made me crack up the most. He seriously says some of the funniest stuff with the straightest face. And he himself is such a fascinating person. He seems to know a lot about any subject no matter what it is. Love his YouTube channel as well. Big James May fan!

Love all 3!

I personally cant pick one. They are just too perfect of a trio
chrizzleon@reddit
I don’t feel I could pick one over the others….

How could you forget The Stig?

Or his African / American / South American cousin
jazzymusicvibes@reddit (OP)
Don’t forget his Chinese cousin
thai-pirate@reddit
And the Italian bunga bunga stig
And their truck driving cousin. Lol

Clarkson + Hammond and Hammond + May are good as a duo, but Clarkson + May never seemed that good unless they were plotting something against Hammond.
DarthScruf@reddit
May, I've seen all of his shows and follow his YouTube channel.

The Japanese one was amazing. One of my favourite travel shows ever.

Bim! Guess what?

Sumimasen!
Ichthyocentaur@reddit
The most controversial yet the most sensible of the three.

This is like asking me if I like sex, cars or golf better. Yes they are all different but I love them all the same.
jazzymusicvibes@reddit (OP)
Gotta be honest with you after sex and cars I wasn’t expecting golf but hey
oscarx-ray@reddit
As a person, May.
For entertainment on the shows, Clarkson.
ka1ri@reddit
Clarkson picked the best cars for road trips, or at least cars I would pick. Thats where hammond is my least favorite, he was more likely to pick american cars and I hate american cars
American btw
Ramuh@reddit
Exactly what I wanted to say. I despise Clarkson as a human being, he's egoistic and the typical rich person. But he's very funny.
Dependent-Interview2@reddit
Hey, Bim. Guess what?
Red_Winged_Duck@reddit
Yes
Cause4concern27@reddit
As I've got older and gumpier, easily May

Also watching him take out his anger on the Austin Allegro can never be forgotten
StepYaGameUp@reddit
Hammond was the heart. And his wit is brilliant.
Fit-Meal4943@reddit
May.
He genuinely seemed to be eager to learn about the cars, the people and the places.
Pyreknight@reddit
Sitting and watching Top Gear and The Grand Tour, James has been the one that aged best in both. His goodbye in the finale was partly proof of that.
Difficult_Paramedic8@reddit
James and purely because he's broken my laughing twice. I genuinely broke 2 ribs laughing because of him.
liinepiige@reddit
How on earth did you manage that
Difficult_Paramedic8@reddit
Genuinely no idea it was his third reich joke and one of his others. That got me but no clue what the mechanics in it were.
grubas@reddit
May or Hammond. May is a bloke id love to know at the pub. Just randomly chat but 99% of the time it's just a head nod and a "hey!"
Hammond is fun, he's quick and he's energetic, but id get tired of being around him.
Clarkson amuses me but I in no way shape or form ever want to be around him.
jazzymusicvibes@reddit (OP)
You elaborate on all of them but Clarkson, why wouldn’t you want to be around him? Just curious
grubas@reddit
The whining and drama, let alone some of his opinions.
He's the best TV of all three, brilliant presenter, but uhhh, yeah.
FWAGOA2205@reddit
All of the above.
ydktbh@reddit
It changed as I grew up. As a child it was Clarkson. As a teen I related more to Hammond. Now as an adult I appreciate James more
TheFlaccidChode@reddit
Hammond, he's the "glue"

hello
chill_in@reddit
I tried thinking about it and couldn't pick one, they are a team, almost like they are 1 person split into 3.
and i think this is the entire reason they were so popular and successful
JSteveB87@reddit
The one who looks most like an "incompetent, long-haired, old spaniel"... Captain Slow, of course.
jomartz@reddit
Impossible to chose among them. The trio is what made the shows.
josherman61791@reddit

The best part about the farm show is everyone dealing with Jeremy wanting to do things his own way. lol
He does seem genuinely passionate about it though.

I think it's really weird to make people choose a favorite out of such an iconic trio, but it's May.
jazzymusicvibes@reddit (OP)
Didn’t make you do anything but hey, your answer seems to track so thanks
