Trusted CPA?

I just discovered my mother hasn't filed her taxes for 2025.
Need a CPA asap who will take care of this now.
Any suggestions?
Mother is technically in Dallas proper, if that makes any difference.

For unfiled returns you want someone who handles back taxes specifically, not just a regular CPA in the Dallas area H&R Block can do it but they're hit or miss depending on the office. Prime Path Advisory is solid for more complex situations.
David French CPA in Plano also takes walk-ins

File an extension and pay your best edtimate of what she'll owe.
That'll give you six months to actually file the return.

This. No CPA will take on this now. If she has a simple return, just do it online yourself.

But if you file an extension now, you could certainly find a CPA between now and October to finish up the actual return.
It's just not gonna happen in the 5 calendar days.

100% this is the right move.

Unless she has more income than the usual retiree, the taxes owed is significantly lower for seniors this year. There is a new $6000 senior deduction this year, and a tax credit to refund some of the Social Security additional taxes for seniors with income outside of Social Security payments, but not exceeding certain limits.
The biggest issue is if she has an IRA or 401k and didn't take a RMD. That needs to be fixed relatively soon to avoid higher penalties.
You likely will need to pay closer attention to your mom's financial and administrative tasks in the future. My biggest surprise was when my mom was no longer able to balance her checkbook. Not that it's important to do that, but she felt she needed to, but was no longer able to make it balance.

I’m a CPA and ERO - what I would recommend if her taxes are simple and straightforward would be to use freetaxusa.com

Don’t panic. Don’t rush. Seniors rarely owe tax and if they do it’s low amount. Late taxes can be filed without penalty if. O tax is due which is the best suggestion you can follow…. Don’t owe tax! Take time to find deductions wherever they exist and process accordingly.

File an extension right away and if she owes, make the payment by 4/15. Now she'll have till 10/15 to get it taken care of.

It’s a long shot but maybe Lupe can help

I think it would be super difficult to get a good CPA with 5 days until the deadline; Your best bet is probably an online tax filer like TurboTax or Tax Act
