Airhorn and Fireworks Downtown

I work in one of the tall office buildings downtown near American Airlines Center and the new Goldman building and occasionally we hear a few airhorn blasts followed by what sounds like fireworks. I am not sure of the schedule but we heard them this morning a few mins ago (10:45- 11am is Friday morning) but this has been happening for a few weeks now. Does anyone know what this is for? Has anyone else heard this? My whole office is quite curious.

Perhaps a bird deterrent?

Very good suggestion! I will pose this to the rest of the office.

What is the feedback from the office team?

might be construction work? those tall buildings going up around there use air horns for safety signals and sometimes the machinery sounds like fireworks when it backfires or whatever
i work in marketing so not construction expert but my office was near building site last year and we heard similar stuff at random times

Just piggybacking off what Gurlie_J_Girl said. They do that to scare the birds in the parking garage and the surrounding area. It threw me off too until I found out lol

Sounds like controlled explosive excavation. Very possibly for the new underground electronic trading infrastructure.
