Is 911 or 718 daily friendly enough?

Hello guys, I really need some suggestions. Here’s our current cars. We have a 2017 S560, 2017 cayenne 3.6, 2019 countryman s and a very old rx330. Recently my parents are now considering selling the mini cooper and old lexus maybe the Porsche as well. Now, my thought is that we can have a base 718 or 911 to replace the mini cooper and the old lexus, keep or replace the cayenne( we need a SUV), I figured that since my family are usually abroad but my mother, and we need a daily car for all sort of tasks, so a 2 or 2+2 is enough for her and Porsche mildly depreciate. She doesn’t really like big cars and want something with character, I feel like this is the best choice. However, I haven sit in one or driven one before, maybe they are a little bit too low? My parents are almost 60. My dad really like his s560 even though he only drives it when he’s back home which is around 10 times a year. My mom wants him to replace his Mercedes for a car that is a lot more practical but my dad said if he sell it he will get a not very practical Bentley bentayga or continental. Help me figure this out please, my parents often argue about this. What set up should we get? How do I tell them? If you guys need any more details let me know!

Boxster is a great car for daily use.
Personally, I'd go for the Panamera for daily use though. Much easier to live with. DOesn't sound like your dad really is the sports car type. Seems like he prefers a powerful luxury cruiser - E.g. Continental, Bentayga etc.

If you get a 718 you’ll have major penis envy everytime you see a 911

I owned a proper 911, long nosed 1972 911e. I am getting close to buying a 718.
I do not buy cars for status, I buy cars I like. There is a reason I currently have an ancient land rover discovery 2 and a fiat 500 abarth.

I'm a Porsche technician, I get to experience these cars back to back regularly. I actually have a 718 Cayman in my rack now, and a 992 was right before it.
A 718 or a 911 that is 997 or older is very similar to a modern Mustang in terms of fit/access.
A 992 is a much fatter car. It really crested the hill into GT car, not so much a sports car. The space in the knee and hip area, elbow clearance to the door panel, etc are way more generous. The ride in a Carerra or S is at least as comfortable as any M/AMG/RS would be (of course going less sporty would be softer).
If you have the kind of money to be making these choices, there is really no reason to be stressing about it. Go use the cars and decide.

I'm 68, drive a 718 Cayman, and also have a GTI for when I need to get something bigger than would fit in the Cayman. It's fine for around town errands. On the highway, if the road surface is worn, it can be noisy. I have PASM on my car, and even on the soft setting, you do get bounced around in bumpy construction areas.
My wife likes riding and driving it locally, but would prefer her Lexus for any long distance driving.

I own a Porsche 924 turbo, fits your description perfectly of practical and some character.
It has a lot of space for a 2 door glass deck lid Porsche. The 944 the wide body version of this car is what Porsche mechanics would drive back back in the day and and semi daily car some Porsche collectors put most of their miles on

The Porsches pretty much feel like normal cars and are definitely daily drivable. It sounds like whether this car will work or not depends on your parent’s ability to get in and out easily. Nobody here can tell you if it’s too low. Of course it’s low, it’s a sports car. But it’s not wildly low like a Lotus or something. If your parents are in good health it shouldn’t be an issue. If they are showing signs of decreases mobility, keep in mind that will only trend away from the Porsche.

I daily drove a 911 in my 20s.
It's fine for a single person commuter. Definitely rides firm and sometimes it was tough to figure out where to put the groceries.
It's great at transporting the driver. If there is a passenger and/or "stuff" it's not so great.
