Who is the most famous person for all the wrong reasons?
rmn_trllr@reddit
Hitler. 🙄

The Pig
elektricniorgazam@reddit
I think Milošević has still got it
BerpBorpBarp@reddit (OP)
Not Vucic recently?
elektricniorgazam@reddit
IN Serbia, yeah, but I think internationally (if I understood the question in the post correctly lol) it's still Milošević
BerpBorpBarp@reddit (OP)
I think Vucic is more known to the younger generations (the Serbia protests are more internationally known than u might think) but for general people Milosevic probably still is most notorious
mrwhite14X@reddit
I mean, technically Vlad the impaler is the most known for doing some nasty stuff to his enemies, but he had his reasons for it!
Second it's definitely Ceausescu.
DartVejder@reddit
Ratko Mladic
vladjjj@reddit
I'd rather not mention his name, but on today's date in 1941, he started the most notorious part of our history.
shurdi3@reddit
Say, say it loud, let everyone be able look up who Ante Pavelic is, and know what he did.

He won't step down any time soon. At best, he will become more covert.

Martin Shkreli back in the days.
nobody1568@reddit
Herostratus, I guess.
CockamouseGoesWee@reddit
Literally no non-Greek knows that guy.
I'd argue Ephialtes is more infamous
nobody1568@reddit
No non-greek that hasn't opened a book. Which is also true of Greeks. He's literally the definition of "known for the wrong reasons".
CockamouseGoesWee@reddit
He isn't the part of Greek history most people learn about. Most people just learn about Athens vs. Sparta and don't even learn about Corinth.
GoHardLive@reddit
Adonis Georgiadis
BardhyliX@reddit
out of context but it's fascinating that a greek name is a lot more popular in Kosovo(above image) than Albania(about 40 people with that name)
Affectionate-Arm-405@reddit
Close but I would say Georgios Papadopoulos
Beautiful-Dish-6275@reddit
Greek names sound so grandiose. Like you could tell me that dude is like the ruler of the universe or something and id buy it.
XenophonSoulis@reddit
Georgios Papadopoulos is literally the most common Greek first name paired with the most common Greek surname. If it wasn't for the dictator, it would be like the most vanilla Greek name possible.
CockamouseGoesWee@reddit
Yeah he was basically John Smith
Affectionate-Arm-405@reddit
In his head he thought he was 😂
But I know what you mean lol

How is "Notorious" Conor McGregor? He had a "notorious" before his name. Isn't Ireland half Balkan?
No-Difference-1351@reddit
Hagi.
Shipshipie@reddit
He is loved not hated.
No-Difference-1351@reddit
Notorious.
Shipshipie@reddit
Notorious means he is famous for something bad. Hagi is famous for his incredible free kicks, which is good.
No-Difference-1351@reddit
That's infamous.
Shipshipie@reddit
Just google it man.

I know everybody likes to say Luka Dončić but no, Melanija is more known worldwide.
Shipshipie@reddit
Who hates Luka?
BerpBorpBarp@reddit (OP)
Definitely more infamous than famous too I agree
Young_Owl99@reddit
Currently ?
Nusret aka Saltbae.
It became a trend that we proud of someone who become viral and they start to act cocky and the whole country start to hate them.
First Arda Turan now him.
Substratas@reddit
There’s nothing more terrifying than a socioeconomically challenged ~~Mediterranean~~ man getting rich overnight. They’re the worst kind.

Singapore?
Born-Till-1738@reddit
Yes, and I know this is a Balkans subreddit
GoHardLive@reddit
Didnt he make Singapore a very rich and developed country ?
Born-Till-1738@reddit
Well, that can be said. We were quite poor and not well developed a few decades ago. Of course there's many people involved and also pros and cons. As the other commentator he said, he's usually quoted as one of the only real examples of a benevolant dictator. I would not go so far as to call him a dictator since he was not corrupt but certainly totalitarian.
BerpBorpBarp@reddit (OP)
You can technically be a dictator but be good. Dictator just means you have all the power to dictate things
Beautiful-Dish-6275@reddit
Yeah, his regime is usually described as a good dictatorship. I guess there is dark side to it.
