Is It Rude To Answer My Door Topless?

(M) It's coming into that time of year. I love nothing more than walking around my house topless. I'd even go naked if I could get away with it (too risky, don't want to flash the neighbours). In the past, if anyone comes to my door I would pull something on. Being quite overweight, this was more out of self-consciousness than politeness. But now, after a few years of dieting and training, I feel pretty confident in how I look. However, I don't want to offend. If I am at someone's door and they came topless it wouldn't bother me, its happened a few times. But I'm wondering what the general consensus on it is.

If you're expecting a package or someone to come round, then I'd have a top to hand, but if not, then the knocker can run the risk of if I'm in briefs or fully clothed.

If someone comes to the door unexpectedly when I have only a T-shirt & briefs on then I answer like that especially if first thing in the morning.

I've had a few disapproving looks however my regular female Royal Mail postie always smiles & obviously doesn't mind at all (I should imagine she's seen worse).

A DPD driver actually got a snapshot of my bulge in proof of delivery which was maybe slightly embarrassing all round however.

There's nothing wrong with it at all and most people wouldn't give a stuff.

But, like anything you do that others observe, people will opine.

Want a giant Tommy Shelby print up in your hallway? Go for it. But anyone seeing it will form an opinion of you.

Want to answer the door in a lacy number? Samesies.

You know that answering the door is literally a human interaction you're invoking. It's up to you whether you care what that other person decides to come away from that interaction thinking.

If you are not expecting people then they might expect people to be partially dressed. If you invite people round and you've got no top on I'm assuming you are trying to show off your body and it screams that you are vain and that doesn't demand respect..

It's not rude but it might be impolite. Someone delivering something might not be expecting or want to see a topless person answering the door. And while it's your home, they're trying to go about their job. I'd say throw a top on if you can, but it's not the end of the world.
