I've shot one of these, they work and shoot well. The only real problem is that a single stack 380 is pretty outdated in 2026. A Bodyguard 2.0 is smaller and holds one extra round, and guns the same size in 9mm have almost the same amount of recoil and hold 1-3 more rounds.
Desperate_Exercise13@reddit
Disagree with this one. It has less recoil than the BG 2.0 and is way easier to rack and load mags. It also is way less snappy than a similar sized 9mm. It’s a good gun for sure but the trigger isn’t quite as good as other Walthers, but is a real trigger.

Having shot other guns the same size and weight, I assure you that they do not have the same amount of recoil as this. Micro compacts in .380 ACP just make sense if you ask me, 9mm is a bit too much and requires an amount of effort/training that I'm not sure is feasible beyond 15 yards for the average person which this firearm is the target audience of.
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
I agree on the single stack. I wish part of their refresh had been to update it to a 1-1/2 stack to get a few more rounds in or something.
I own a PDP-F though and its really snappy compared to the PK/PD380s. The 380s are smaller than a PDP-F, but feel more controllable. Its all a little subjective though for "feel".
Johnnyjetson18@reddit
Cabela's has it for the same price on their website if you don't have a sportsman's near you.
Desperate_Exercise13@reddit
Same price at Academy Sports too.
CowboyHP@reddit
Sadly only the black model, not ODG. And only in select stores (not mine).
Hisetic@reddit
Oh that is good to know, my wife want's another Walther but she doesn't like ODG and would prefer black.
Njanear@reddit
Academy has one with a SS slide and a light green frame, listed for $279.99 right now, if anyone might want a different look. I would be tempted but already have more .380s than I know what to do with.

PD380: Stainless Steel slide, with "Blue" (tealish) Frame. - $279.99

Wo kann ich sie bestellen
twistywizard@reddit
Will be picking one of these up. I love Walthers. This would make a fine downstairs toilet gun for while I am drinking my coffee in case anyone sneaks up on me.
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Can’t tell if kidding, or living on high alert after leaving behind a shadow organization bent on you being 6ft under
twistywizard@reddit
I will let you decide 😂
Wunktacular@reddit
Did some looking.
Hammer fired, abmi firing pin block safety, condition 1 carry with no decocker lever.
Designed for small to average hands, they apparently took advantage of the shorter cartridge.
Ambi paddle mag release like an HK.
Glock cut sights, plastic from the factory.
9 shot magazine.
20.8oz
If you want a subcompact 380 but it needs to be hammer fired, I think this is cheaper than a new metal J frame.
Junction91NW@reddit
The slide is also ridiculously easy to rack. If you have people in your life with feeble hands, this is a great option
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Yeah, definitely easier than my PDP-F. I don't know what it is, but when you unlock the slide, it makes a really satisfying sound and tactile click.
Kuchufli@reddit
the only Walther I ever owned is the P22. For some crazy reason I always accidentally removed the magazine due to the location of the magazine release.
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
No slide release either. Only real protrusion is the manual safety.
Have to pull the slide back to unlock it.
It's a kinda quirky gun.
Flashy-Code-8096@reddit
I had one of these for a split second. What a dogshit trigger. Way too long and heavy to the point the break feels unnatural in double action.
coldsorehighlighter@reddit
For the distinguished shooter looking for a thicc gun that shoots little bitty baby bullets. Who am I to yuck somebody’s yum?
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Ergos, baby. My PK380 is the most comfortable Walther I've ever held in my little baby hands. This is the updated version with PDP-like grip texture. Shoots very comfortably too.
Sal-LeMandeur@reddit
My PK380 used to just shoot brass directly back between my eyes. Hated that gun.
akenthusiast@reddit
They're awesome for women and the elderly.
Honestly I think that large, recoil operated 380s like this, the shield ez, and the Ruger security 380 are the ideal firearms for people who want a gun but aren't interested in it as a hobby.
They're easy to operate, they recoil like nothing, despite firing a cartridge that is adequate for self defense.
That builds confidence fast in people who only make it to the range a few times a year and maybe do a little dry firing once in a while
Thowzand@reddit
Bro they're awesome for anyone. It's one of my favorite guns I own.
CatsAreMajorAssholes@reddit
Makes a good shower gun
Truth-FreedomJustice@reddit
Nah, Ruger Security 380 shoots way better💪. Or if smaller size needed, go for Bodyguard 2.0👍🏻
chferg1s@reddit
Isnt this one made in Umarex plant?
Hisetic@reddit
It is, have seen pictures of it and it has the Cologne proofmark on it.
chferg1s@reddit
That's enough for me to say no to.
Ulm or best on Walthers
WildMidwestPimpStyle@reddit
I thought that was the CCP. Great feeling pistol, but literally had a buddy who had the rear takedown lug shear, and his slide and internals all went downrange. Haven’t trusted anything made by Umarex since.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
The CCP is also made in the Umarex factory, I didn't know they made any 9mms.
You can tell by the proof mark, which isn't on all new German guns unfortunately. 3 stars in a shield is Cologne, Umarex. Stag antler is Ulm, Walther.
nobodysbeach@reddit
I don't think umarex makes any steel slides
CowboyHP@reddit
That’s what I’ve heard too, hopefully someone can confirm.
Leading_Juggernaut41@reddit
I have a huge hands this will only cater for two of my fingers ✌️ + 1 on the trigger. Solid gun for small hands
bjjedc@reddit
What kind of catchers mitts are you walking around with.
Leading_Juggernaut41@reddit
Enough to tickle both holes
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Bit of a niche item, but I've been looking for one. This week, the price seems to have dropped $50-$100 from the previous advertised price. Showing on Sportsman's Warehouse and a few other bigger retailers. Quote from GMAN guns only a few days ago was $348.
If there's a Sportsman's near you for local pickup, and use military/vet discount: $304 (all in) at checkout.
Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir@reddit
Is this Umarex or "real Walther"?
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
As others have stated, Umarex. It Umarex owns Walther, if that means anything. These are solid pistols.
_Hashtronaut_@reddit
This is quite tempting
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Dew et.
Winner_Pristine@reddit
Interesting.
The safety does not interface with the trigger or hammer at all, it simply blocks the firing pin.
It's a DA/SA but with no decocker. The way to decock is to put the safety on and then lower the hammer by pulling the trigger. I would carry it in DA mode with the safety off.
Also it uses a locked breech tilting barrel design so recoil should be minimal.
I like the paddle mag release.
Bortjort@reddit
Is this direct blowback or no?
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Locked breach/tilting barrel
Bortjort@reddit
Thanks!
cvillefarmer@reddit
Can we get these sent off somewhere to get optics cut?
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
I can’t confirm as I haven’t spoken to a vendor, but Walther forums suggest it’s not possible because there’s an internal lightning cut in the rear. Angry bear and some other company’s make dovetail plate mounts. Has Glock rear site, so compatible with most items I believe.
Disastrous_Tiger_148@reddit
It looks like the Walther P22, but hopefully its way more reliable
yem68420@reddit
Yeah these are way more reliable. My p22 was fine as long as I used CCI or Remington or Aguila ammo.
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
A lot more reliable. The newer P22Q is a lot better, but still occasional FTF.
I had my PK380 for 15 years and never had a malfunction after hundreds of rounds. Almost always shoot PMC though.
aio-nrh@reddit
My wife has this in baby blue, it's a great gun. I wish it was optic ready, but for 300 bucks you can't go wrong.
flyingsailor@reddit (OP)
Angry Bear dovetail optics plate. ;)
